I have a 340 with elderbrock performer heads and a rpm air gap intake with Harland sharp roller rockers. It has mopar performance valve covers that I milled down where it mates to the intake runners so it would not hit the intake when you tightened them down. They do not seem to be warped.I used thickest cork and rubber gasket I could get so they did not hit the roller rockers.I guess my question is does any one have the same set up and what gasket do you use or is there a set of covers that are for a 340 with the elderbrock intake and heads that I have

Is those the blue ones
Yup! I'm a big block guy but they work great for me. I use light bead of silicon on valve cover side. Super light and spread thin and even with my finger. Then same on head side with white lithium grease. That way gasket glued to valve cover and comes off head easy. Never tear that way and reusable

You are probably right. I am going to put on new gaskets and not tighten them so much and check for leaks.

I have almost the same set up with M/T valve covers and I used the FelPro 1608 and they sealed up good.

get these you won't look back. I've had them off 5 or 6 times and they still seal tight. I have Edel alum heads on my 340 and 273 Commando covers.

I just tried to check that part # for valve cover gaskets and came up empty. Chrysler probably no longer stocks them, like all the other parts we can no longer get from them.

cheap price= Chinese leaks,,,I guess,,only know they work,,you be the judge. Reuseable counts ,doesn't it?
Only if it last through 2 generations! I don't doubt they are good, but when you were raised and lived in a generation where Victor and Fel pro SBM gaskets use to cost $ 4.99 a pair, $60.00 is startling.

Years ago we would smear wheel bearing grease on the side of the gasket that met the head. They were reusable several times.

I agree brother,,, when i started my resto I put a sign on the car "build a good car not a cheap car" that's just where I'm at. I feel "cheap" cost you more in the long run,,, by the way ,,I ain't a rich guy.

Are these a black rubber type gasket? Back around 86/87 I bought a set of MP, might have still been Direct Connection , cant remember, gaskets for a 440, they were that type, reusable and never so much as weeped. Best valve cover gaskets I ever bought. I just scored me some unused Moroso gold anodized aluminum covers and those would be my choice, or the Moroso gaskets?

Those 60 dollar valve cover gaskets will last forever. They are reusable. They do not leak. End of problem. Forever. Forever. Isn't forever worth 60 bucks? Even my cheap *** has to say yes.

unless # 2 header tube is right against the valve cover! "big block, raised port, TTI 2" headers" , have burnt up evert type I`ve tried. Rob, your working in a parts store aren`t u ? if so, does anyone make an asbestos type valve cover gasket for a 440 ?? I don`t have room to shim the header out. thinking, pulling it of and eggshaping the tube might be the only way, dang it !

Could you fab a thin aluminum heat shield that bolts to the valve cover bolts

they are greyish colour, steel with silicone rubber ribbed, they seal! also you cant over crush them with the steel in there. If the cover is flat your good to go.
