I'm looking for some input and advice from others.
I have a few 340 and 360 engines and am thinking of building one of these small blocks and possibly selling others. What input is there for using 340 versus 360 other than the value of the 340 being worth more.
What will it take to fit a turbo set up and have the space to get it into one of my Dusters as I have a 72 with it's Shark Tooth grill & a very original survivor 73 Gold Duster.
I believe a low compression of no more than 9 is recommended, what about heads, cam & carb.
Any other advice and help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

I think you will get more people to comment if you posted this on the
Forced Induction Mopar section.
With that said, i will relay what was first said to me when i was contemplating going down this road. BUILD YOU FIRST TURBO MOTOR WITH A ENG THAT YOU DON'T CARE ABOUT. MORE THAN LIKELY YOU WILL DAMAGE THE FIRST ON!!!!
For me it was the.... "turbos is not for the poor man". It will cost you to get the right turbo setup. and if you just throw something together with some spare part from you garage........it's probably not going to live vary long.

My neighbour just went down this road with a 350 chiv good forged pistons, the right turbo with all the high dollar lightweight parts in it. set the wastegate too high, with a 10 to 1 motor. it lived in his sons truck 3 day before it had major blow by. pulled eng and had 5 out of the 8 forged piston cracked.
They are re thinking on whether that motor will go back with a turbo or not................

Hopefully Subcom chimes in, or look for his engine build thread...

Thanks for that advice, will certainly look at posting it there.
That is also why I was rather going to use a 360 instead of a much scarcer and more valuable 340 especially as I have some good F stamped 340's

Thanks Abodybomber or should I thank good old Sean ?
Hopefully Subcom will see my original post and give me his opinion.
Much appreciated.
Lol... There's another guy( Diduster on Youtube, ..) who has extensive experience with Mopars, and turbos.. He actually is fabbing a bolt on kit, for production. He has a thread here...I will try to find it...

It really depends on power goals, are you going to race it, or just drive it. It's really all in the tune of the engine.

Yeah, look for Dizuster's build on theturboforums. I believe he was mocking up a SBM kit on a Duster. Mine is a 5.9/360, stock bottom end, but that is what I built as a N/A motor before adding boost. My car is an early A and much more limited in space under the hood vs your Duster. That said, it's a bear to do all of the hotside and downpipe fab work unless you are experienced. It took me a looooong time to get mine right and it's still not perfect. But I had never fabricated or welded anything like that. Look for my build a few postings below this. There are plenty of pics to give you ideas.
