I have a 1971 dart swinger 318 with power steering, been trying to find a coupler not very many and to expensive. Would a u-joint set up be a good alternative, and how would I go about getting the correct size? Is there a company that knows what I'm asking for? Thank for the help

The steering coupler was a great idea. It allowed the vibrations and movement of the chassis to be somewhat isolated from the driver. I would NOT look to replace it with a U-joint setup. Ask around for a coupler. There are Mopar specific wrecking yards that can pull them from steering columns OR just put up a wanted ad here on FABO. If all of that fails, contact me and I will look to see if I have a decent one on a junker column. Make sure to let everyone know the year and that it is POWER steering.

Weren't power and manual the same size up until a certain year model? I know the pitman shafts were the same for a time. Anyway... Measure the input shaft diameter at your steering gear if you can. We don't always know for sure. State exactly what you're seeking in a parts wanted ad. Good luck

Don't know if it'll work for you or not but I'm going to be cutting the coupler off my column in the next week or 2. It's a 72, manual steering column.
