Thanks for the info. Should I be able to see the gears if I take the side plate (where the linkage is) off? I am going to drain all the fluids and reseal it this weekend. I felt like I was so close, but I still have to buy a shift lever, clutch, flywheel, clutch fork, and I just ordered a Lakewood bell housing. Spring Fling in 2 weeks should be good for all those items. I've seen new clutches there even.

That is an abody trans so it has the very small bearing retainer diameter that no stock bellhousing had. I think Brewers and Passon make adapter rings.

I don't think that eBay scatter shield is the smaller 4.35" OD retainer diameter.

Common Big block bellhousing are 4.805"
