Ok so I'm replacing the rubber gasket on top of the Square pot connector coupler on my steering column ..inside was nasty with dry gease so i cleaned out and replaced the with new grease and new rubber. Now how do i get the tabs bent back into place to stay connected again with coupler??
Anyone go thru this??

That was a bottle cap like crimp. I very carefully remove the original, doing as little distortion as possible, and successfully reinstall it. The replacement cap that comes with a rebuild kit... Good luck with that thing.
The best fail safe solution is the wire formed retaining clamp available on ebay. Snaps right on, works like a dream come true.

Watch there are 3"and 3.5" The 3'5 is usually on trucks.

I've had good luck bending each tab individually with a small pair of channel locks.
Sometimes that wire retainer gets in the way of header pipes especially in a big block car where space is at a premium.
