66 Dart GT HT Whatsitgonnabe?

surely the wife has some better containers that would seal well in the kitchen cabinets... :poke::lol:
It's not 'the wife' alone who rules the kitchen in this house and believe me, I've searched the premises thoroughly.

I did get a food container with a pretty decent rubber lip at Jula but alas, when I checked in on it after fifteen minutes there was dust seeping out in the corners.

No wonder, though. It's pretty violent!

I guess I'll need a container with a large screw lid. Or latches on all sides.

Fixed leaking lid with cling film. Up and running again. Lovely constant humming sound in the background ...

I'm back after a couple of weeks of absence. Spent a few days in London with the family (well, we left the 5-yo at home with my mom) and then I've been pondering the outcome of the US Presidential election.

I did get this, though:

It's a steering coupler kit. I'm not entirely certain the clips in the zip-bag is for my year, the note says 70-71. We'll see.

Btw, when you grease up the coupling, and crimp the outside boot retainer on, make sure the tabs are crimped tightly, or the assembly can come apart. Chrysler made a dealer fix for that. I'm not sure if it was a recall. It was an external thick wire clip that snapped over the coupling holding the back end on.

This was the dealer installed retainer i was talking about. They were dealer offered as a service part if it was found the joint was not crimped tightly enough. Was never a recall thing though.

Whats new? Where have you been Anders? I'm waiting on all the updates to the 66 GT

Oh boy, It sure has been a while. Sorry to leave you hanging like that.

I started pacing up my 'work' attendance during last semester and the latter part of the winter. That made me tired and lacking energy.

Now that spring is here I've gotten all my energy back and I'm really stoked to start on my car again! Just yesterday I visited Ulf again and got the front of a '65 Valiant off him. It's being shipped as we speak. I plan to use the front frame rails and possibly also the transmission cross member and the bottom portion of the fire wall.

Exactly how that will play out remains to be seen. I've got zero experience welding sheet metal.

Here it is, nevertheless. Note that it came with UCA:s and wiper assembly, accelerator pedal and part of the driver's side floor.

Happy to see you back Anders! What are the plans for the Valiant clip you got from Ulf- going on your Dart?

EDIT: my bad! I see you are going to use some of it on your Dart!

Hi Don! Happy to be back! I hope all is well!

The front rails on my car are in pretty bad shape on the underside. My original plan was to just replace the poorly repaired portion of each rail but when I got wind of Ulf's nice rust free front, I thought I might as well replace the whole thing on each side.

Then I though, well, maybe the trans cross member could use an upgrade too. My car obviously has met with a ditch at some point.

Now that I've actually seen the thing, I might even cut out the bottom portions of the fire wall. Those are bent on both sides on my car. It's difficult to take pics of it since it's all black and I'm lying under the car. All you get are close-ups of weird-looking black sheet metal.

Understand and rust-free metal is definitely better than trying to repair someone's poor repair! Take lots of measurements before starting! Once the engine and transmission is removed, the going will be a lot easier. Take your time and do it right!

Good to see you back. Life has a way of getting in the way of garage time.

Okay, here's the first signs of progress this year. I think it's mostly correct but since some of the linkage wasn't there when I bought it, I may have gotten it wrong.

I haven't tightened all the screws - and one of the brass screws for the choke flap broke off - and the gasket isn't in there yet so I can still fix it. Haven't mounted the needles yet, either, obviously. Need to get new ones. Mine are worn out from the lifting if that makes sense.

Well look at that! Some actual progress!

I decided I couldn't wait for a miracle to happen any longer so I went ahead and put thread inserts in my LD340. I managed to drill about as well as can be expected ...

I did a total of ten holes and I guess I should have started with the less critical ones ... They do look good with a new insert, though.

Here's the whole sha-bang, water fittings and all. Not sure if I put the thermostat in the right way but hey, what could go wrong? (I put the spring side down)
