Duster shifter 2.jpg
My car, 70 Duster is the red/white interior one. Of course the shifter isn't stock, but it was cool when installed back in the early 80's. And stupid me I didn't keep the stocker. Now I'm searching for a stock shifter handle and find a few on ebay that specifically say 71 or newer. My quick search indicates I need the one like in the black car.

The above said, what's the difference between a 70 and 71 shifter?

I did stumble across the stamped factory number for the proper handle a while back, but didn't hit save and of course now can't find it. If anyone has that info (1970 4 speed bucket seat shifter number) I'd be grateful.

Thanks, Ron

Yep I do have a 70/71 parts manual. According to it, the part number I need is 2996 313. And back in the day I could walk in to the parts counter with that info and have one in a couple days. Unfortunately the part number and number on the shifter aren't the same.

THANKS rlcbit!!!

Got the shifter installed, man it's so much nicer than the little short stubby unit I'd had in place for the past 25 years. What was I thinking "head slap":realcrazy:

Ron, I did the same thing back the 80's. That shorter shifter was supposed to have shorter throws for quick shifting, but the factory one works much better. I saved mine-good thing
