HEMI DART K FRAME

-
Does anyone know who sells the k frame to install a 426 hemi in a 68 Dart

If you plan on using the TTI headers, make sure whatever stock kframe setup puts the centerline of the crank exactly per TTI instructions.

If your buying a already made/welded kframe, contact TTI first to check if they've heard of fitment issure with the particular provider/seller.

You are dead on regarding this......very little.....almost zero, wiggle room. Motor is purposely close (1-1/4 ") to the firewall and headers around steering box allow no forward adjustment to the motor.

Jim Kramer runs Kramers. His company can be found in a Google search. Al Debevic from Greenwood WI also modifies k frames for a body hemi transplants. Have fun with your money gun!

Al Debevic in Greenwood WI has my k frame and is modifying it for my 426 hemi transplant going into my 68 Dart Clone. I should have it back in a couple of weeks.

Al is a great guy. I picked mine up a couple of months ago also.

Just curious, if the motor is that close to the fire wall does the trans mount need modified? Mine is all the way back on my mount and I’m farther away. My firewall has been hacked on though so it’s not a good reference.

Yes, to get the above mentioned position, I have always added some additional slot to the trans mount.

For me, I look at the fit with the #1 and #3 header tubes and the steering box. Since the steering box does not move, a c-hair adjustment forward or back is the answer.

LOL 1-1/4 " ..... That's the left hand head, now go have a look how close the back of the right hand head is to the firewall.

Sorry all out there for kicking an old thread back to life. Does anyone have proper website info for Kramers? I’m restarting my HEMI project after a long hiatus. I want to do a proper S/S mount system, SS&AFX no longer offers parts for this. I DO NOT wish to use elephant ears, bin there dun dat in high school. Thank you in advance.

Once you get the parts to make the K frame go to TTIs website for engine location. They used my Dart to make the headers and they fit perfectly. Remember the passenger side shock tower has to be beaten to death, ok, massaged into shape to clear the head. Hope this helps.
One more thing, the steering column housing needs to shortened up buy 2” or it will hit the head.

If you’re building a Dart I have the wheel well templates as well.

My apologies. I fat fingered it and hit that button by mistake. I’m sorry.

Just spoke with a lady at Kramer and yes, they have mounts and also sell The K frame. Maybe putting one in my 67 barracuda

I have made these for my project.
Just a few details left, like a square weld on nut and some trimming.
Let me know if interested.
And Mega Parts have a good price on the Motor Mounts.
