When going with aftermarket gauges, what needs to be done to the stock gauge harness? I thought I read that the ammeter wires needed to be connected, but I couldn't remember exactly. Adding aftermarket gauges to stock cluster.

The two wires on the back of the ammeter need to be connected to each other so power can pass through them to the rest of the car.

Yes the ammeter need to be connected together. Look up the Mad ammeter wire around as it gives you a simple diagram even if you don`t do it.

I am running a 100 Amp alternator with the original ammeter in my 67 Charger. Beefed up wires alternator-ammeter-battery. Function is faultless, all works very well.
The original ammeter is a very sturdy piece of engineering and can handle a lot of current.

Stock Ammeter was fine, but I am replacing all the gauges in the cluster with aftermarket. I am doing something odd under hood, and I want the reliability and visibility of normal gauges and not idiot lights.

MAD search was perfect. Thank you. Now, on to finish gauges, so I can head to the supercharger build.
