I've got a '64 Dart 270 4 dr sedan. It's a factory V8 car. Some chowderhead took the 273 out of it, and swapped a slant and parts from a '64 Dart GT into it just to sell the GT for an astronomically stupid price. My car is super clean, and didn't deserve that, or to be sent to the crusher like the guy wanted. At any rate, my '67 318 is going in it because my fender badges say "V8" and the slant has broken rings and burns a quart every fifty miles. The last part it needs (maybe?) is a centerlink. I've got one I bought off of a guy I met at Carlisle. He told me $50 plus shipping, and call him when I get home. I called him three days later, and he asked me what the price he quoted me was. I told him and he balked at it, but sent me the link anyway. I haven't installed it yet, but was wondering if any of you folks had a picture of the slant and V8 link side by side. I think this guy sold me a slant center link. I tried comparing it to the one in the car, and while this one might look different, it's too close to call. Also, I don't know which one I've got in the car to begin with. Can anybody help? It would also be great if there was a measuring device of some sort in the photo.. what fer the length and all

Bonus points if one of you sells me a V8 center link if I find out that Mr E. sent me the wrong one.

Hey Matt - got a picture of the possible V8 centerlink. I've got my V8 link but not one from a slant.

EDIT: here's a couple of pics I just took of mine:

The drop is quite noticeable - about 2 inches

Hmmm, looks like a slant centerlink to me

I was afraid of that.. I'll have to call Mr. Essig to see if it's an honest mistake, and see if he'll reconcile the problem..

I'd still welcome anybody else who wants to chime in on this..

Hey Matt unless the prior owner knew that the V8 needed a V8 centerlink, it might be possible it's still in your 64!

He may have swapped the entire subframe out.. the details are a little hazy, as I got the car and the information from the PO's son, who's a super nice guy, by the way.

I called Essig, and he's perfectly happy to swap links with me as long as one of us can come up with the transaction information. Sorry if the first post was a little slanderous towards him.. The first taste of a bad discovery is always a bitter one.

Measure the drop on it, it looks too close to call!! The drop should be 1 7/8"!!

worse comes to worse, you can clearance the pan and use the 6 center link with 65 Valiant "brick" motor mounts. It may even fit with the thicker valiant mounts as the Dart mounts seem to be "Ice cream sandwich' thin style.
