NorCal Body and Paint

-
Looking for a good shop to do a complete body and paint job. Any suggestions? Thanks

Tough call almost everywhere these days. There are several good shops in the area but all of them are expensive and many of them feature owner/prima donnas who are ar-tiiists. What level of paint job are you looking for? Corvette straight or Ferrari straight?

Looking for above average work, the cuda is actually in very nice condition wearing most of its original paint and where it doesnt have the original paint the previous owner stripped it off.

Just a warning, if you take it to a normal collision shop, it could be more than a year before you get it back.

An above average, full body refinishing, could easily cost $15,000 +.

I might suggest looking at Nevada shops due to the enviro rules here in California...
Jim, I have given that some thought... years back when I painted my 71 I got the enamel paint from Nevada.

I know a guy here in San Jose who does impeccable work. He's an old school hot rodder, who can do world class perfection if you want to pay for it. For a normal, beautiful job he told me about $20k for my '68 convertible. He aligns all the panels etc. and gets stuff done on time. Solid reputation, and top shelf work.

Let me know if you want his contact info.

I do know a guy here in Oregon. He has body worked and painted things sitting in the Smithsonian.

The last car he painted was a Corvette. Took 5 years at a cost of $50,000. The owner wanted a factory gloss level, texture and paint runs.

This took historic assembly line production pictures to get the panels oriented correctly so the runs would be in the right spots and flowing in the correct direction.

lol

I think I'll pass on the $50K job with authentic runs... <LOL>

I thought I had my Barracuda in good hands, but it's going on 4-1/2 years now. So I don't have a recommendation for you.

A friend of mine had his 69 Camaro Resto-Mod done by B&J down in Rancho Cordova about four years ago. One of the best paint jobs I've seen in a while, took 2nd in his category at AutoRama 2015... heard they might not be doing this type of work anymore, he recommends Roseville Rod and Custom.

Hey did you decide on a place? I'm also looking for some body work (also Nor Cal Vacaville) and for some reason it's becoming more difficult than ever to find a place to do body work without it being an insurance claim
