Here's a step by step disassembly of one of the "Ready to Run" HEI SB units. (Continuous Edit so please be patient)

Look inside (where green wire is in picture) and you should see the vacuum advance lever hooked onto a nub. Pry the lever downwards while turning the advance counter clockwise and it will pop off. Remove vacuum advance.

This is a picture of the vacuum advance nub.

Now you can rotate the disc to remove the allen bolts holding down the assembly.

To adjust curve bend the spring hold down "hooks".

There is also an access on the side where I assume you can bend the spring retainers to adjust the curve.

This was too...? lock it out? or replace the mag pickup?

Is this to fix an issue ? Have you run it ?
Is this a quality piece ?
I'd like to see one run on a Dizzy machine to check curve and such....

An attempt to adjust the curve. Was coming in way too fast for my setup.

After a test drive and timing it out I have gained 500rpm to mechanical advance.

Thats cool you were able to adjust it. I always sell these as non adjustable, so you have one up on me....and i sell them.lol

do you feel that access port would save this trouble? or not really? i imagine you'd have limited adjust-ability by bending tabs with a screwdriver....so i never advised it.
learn something every day. cool!

My Opinion: It is a moderate to well-built Chinese distributor.

I bought it on Ebay ($45) while chasing ignition ghosts a few years ago (was not the fix). It works. I have put a lot of miles on it. Assumed I would put the MOPAR dizzy back in if it ever gave me problems. See a lot of Q's on here about them so thought I would share.

I never did like the curve though. Out of the box mine was coming all in by 1650 with 20' of mechanical advance. After this adjustment I still have 20' advance but it comes in 10' by 1500 and 20' at 2100. My setup likes it so far.

I am still dialing it in so might give the screwdriver "cheat" a try and let you know. The tabs are fairly easy to bend. It's not a bad piece. And even though I am not fond of ChiCom parts I do think something like this can get some cars on the road and out of their garages. I do eventually want to upgrade my mopar dist to HEI and dial it in as best as possible.

I run a HEI on my 68 Barracuda and I like it. But for my 340 Swinger I am trying to keep engine looking as stock as possible so I
like the idea of the all in one setup that will look more like a points dizzy and kinda hide the module.
Is the Vacuum Advance adjustable ?

Unfortunately no.

Yes I'm very familiar with these, I just never messed with the advance as usually we upgrade people to a pro billet type if they want that feature, especially with the vac being fixed. We have great luck with them for mild builds. I don't know how ebay guys sell them for $45 though. I think mine are 60. But at least you have a face to a name and a warranty. To each his own however. I know you bought yours years ago. I fully believe there are a few companies in China making these. Mine have always been nice distributors as your describe yours....but man we have seen some junk versions at swap meets. Ugly warped castings and such

I use one just like that. I removed the HEI Module and use just the pickup module wires to fire my MSD 6AL works fine and it alleviates the usual Mopar Wobbly vacuum advance issue.
I think the 8 point rotor wheel helps too

Great jobs with the pictures.. I used pictures of a Bosch Holden V8 Distributor found on the internet, to figure out how it came apart.
