Just took my 72 duster out for a drive. New front end all aligned , new tires perfectly balanced and I was all over the road , kinda spooky. What's the problem, everything new up front and the car is straight , frame connectors , rear sway bar. Any suggestions out there ? Help please

Make sure all the front end components are greased...

steering gear box play?

Was it a reputable shop that performed the alignment?

I set my toe in once on a new front end before I drove it to a shop for an alignment. They adjusted it to 1/2" toe out; I was almost unable to get it home. Needless to say, they never touched another of my vehicles.

If all your steering related parts are in good condition and all the front end bushings and ball joints are new (or checked good) then somebody F'd up somewhere.

And, by the way it is getting more and more prevalent that people can't do the job they are getting paid for.
About the only thing I can trust anyone else to do on my car is change tires on rims, and 50% of the time they F that up.

I agree with the qualified tech comments. Most new cars have no adjustments other then toe so getting someone that goes through all the motions is getting harder to find. Working in dealership bodyshops, I have gotten into arguments with alignments tech's about having to actually do their job. Just have to find the right guy/shop.

taking it in tomorrow to an old tech to get the wheel alignment checked and adjusted. stay tuned for the outcome..

make sure the specs are as close to below as possible:

driver side: -.25 camber, 5* caster

passenger side: -.25 camber, 4.5* caster

1/16" toe in

Thanks , Ill go over this with the guy doing the work. Old race car driver from the 70's working in a tire shop.

Also if the steering box adjustment is to tight it will not stay on center, it will pop over center both ways and wander all over the road.

double check the lower inner bushings, some times they look good but are trashed.
