Budget draw through swap from /6 to 318
Had extra gaskets laying around from other builds. 1977 block .020" over. 321cu in. I believe? Anyhow the intake came off of a 70 318, oil pan is a front sump industrial poly 318 pan flipped to the back(note how deep it is), oil pickup tube is modified magnum, factory style windage tray that was already installed, a stock cam/lifters from a 1973 360 engine, heads from a 78 318, timing cover from a 64 318 poly, and a lean burn distributor modified to have vacuum advance. Only new parts so far are a timing set, and pushrods. I put some .020" shims under the intake valve springs to help close them under boost. Did not bother tearing it down to open the ring gaps, so the already damaged pistons may die from that, time will tell, I will finally have an O2 sensor in it and will start with 20 degrees locked out timing with vac advance hooked to manifold like I have on the slant now. With 2 cans of spray paint and some sealant, I am in it around $80 so far. But I do need to get a flywheel and clutch for it.
