Have a 426 wedge .060 over, took the heads off to see what kind of pistons. Stamped L2208. Anyone have any idea what the compression ratio of these are?

Thanks...

Totally depends on which heads you run. Those are street wedge pistons. In the original street wedge engines they were 11:1.

Awesome, thank you sir! (now I just have to try and figure out what cam I have)

My mistake. I looked real quick and the stage IV heads have the same chamber size as the 906. That means compression will be about 10:1 or so. Still not bad.

There sure are better heads to choose from nowadays......they aren't crappy, but they are not much above the 906, IMO.

If IQ52 sees this, maybe he will chime in with some real numbers.

TRW

Yeah and the naysayers would say they are heavy as farfegneugen.......and they are but they still WORK.

Nothing wrong with those pistons. Of course a lot of that weight comes with the wrist pin. Get them weighed if you don't have an accurate scale. Also, there may be enough meat in the piston to lighten them a bit.

In my experience, you can't rely on spec compression ratio. You have to measure. My 273 commando pistons were supposed to 10.5 to 1. Actual measured static CR was 9.6 to 1. That's a huge difference when it comes to cam selection and what octane the engine will require.

You're doing good.

Heads are supposedly ported and polished, they look smooth. Not planning on replacing them. Is there a way of measuring the chamber accurately while I have the one head pulled?
