How to re-attach this piece?

Can't you just take the thing out of the door, weld it and put it back in. Seems like the easiest way to me.

Well, it looks like someone else beat me to the picture. Brian6pack is absolutely right. The vent window assembly will go in with that piece attached. You just have to twist it a bit.
