73 Duster/Dougs headers/360/Power steering

I'm in the same situation right know with my 69. The giant rectangle end hits the last tube as it drop down. I can't even get it on the box without the column attached. Some have suggested shimming the box to angle it over, pull the header, dent the tube, or use a universal joint. We'll I didn't like any of those. Shimming just adds load via more off angle. Pulling the header adds tension on it so sealing could be an issue along with loading welds and such. A universal alone removes the slip function of the stock coupler. Some have cut and welded a slider to the stock shaft and added a universal. I didn't want to do that either, call me lazy. So after bugging the crap out of Flaming River's tech department, I found out the 66-69 drop in B-body tilt column will drop in an A body (they have a 70-up A column too). So I order an unpainted one, it comes with a 1.75" slip built in and a universal coupler that is a bit shorter and is round so it should clear the header. I was considering a tilt so this nudged me in that direction. Enter the slippery slop, the column was $550, the floor plate is $100 and it requires an aftermarket steering wheel. I think stock wheels will fit if you grind out the indexing key on the wheel but you may have a gap between the wheel and the column.
