E3 Spark plugs do work

-
I'm curious numbers cause the higher the hp the easier it is to get those numbers by optimizing the electric side of the build. 18 hp gain from stock motor is not likely to happen unless their was a fowled or faulty plug which he stated is not the case.

Yes it is higher, just not as high as I was hoping for. Plug change went from 846 hp to 864 hp

Thanks for the info Tom. Great info and one sharp ride

so,what ignition were u running at the time of the tests ? sounds like u had the wrong plugs in it to start with. alum. heads ?
need more info-------------

We where using MSD 7al, Indy 440-1 alum. heads with the same NGK 5672-8 plugs that made the most hp in testing before this. After more than 40 yrs. of racing I always try to use the parts that make the most power with accurate testing. We where very surprised with the results ourselves. This was on a dyno not rear wheel hp. Just hoping to pass along some info to others.

Badass car, Tom. Thanks for sharing. Did the car pickup on the strip any to show what the dyno showed? If so, I would say the gains are right.

Looks like only a 2% gain. Did the testing have cylinder EGTs? Given the performance level of the engine, you may have simply gotten lucky and a few cylinders had the gap indexed in a better spot. Just a guess. But really, any gain in a race engine is notable so hopefully it's not a fluke.

----INERESTHTING, VERY INTERETHSTING -- What do the plugs cost versus the ngk`s ?

I havn't been to the track yet. I tried indexing the plugs once and there was no difference in performance. I can buy the E3 for $5.45 ea. and the NGK for $3.10 ea. So I'll spend that little extra for the power.

Hmmm. I have a 600 HP small block going back on the dyno here real soon. We are using the 5672-8 plugs in it right now. I just got my monthly paycheck from Donald and I think I can spring for some E3's.

I doubt the engine will be ready, but the plugs will be here Friday.

Did you have the data on the cylinder to cylinder EGTs before and after? Are the E3s resistor type plugs? Same heat range? I'm just wondering if there might be something else - a better connection at one or two plugs as a result of the action of unplugging and plugging back in, something like that.

I'd love to see the results too.

Can you give a few details on the engine. Street deal? Strip only? What CR?

Thanks.

This one. It's a street fighter. What is the compression now? I think I measured it at 10.83.

Is 426ci 360 a small block?

Would love to see this as well.

Have never used a E3 plug but did try out the split fire plugs of the day............changed my ET "0" but had a better idle. (theses were in my first porting job Bigger is Better!!!)
When they came out, they claimed, HP increase.............and they faded away................
These plug have to be good plugs.............i mean after all, good old "John Force" is using and promoting them......right?

I`m not saying the plugs don`t work. but john motormouth force ran a mustang ," w/o a ford part on it !"

Not a Force fan but there are no Mopar parts on any of Schumacher's cars. Original engine design architecture yes, parts no.

It's based of the 426 Hemi........no other brand can say that.

There are NO Mopar/Fiat parts on any professional racers equipment they want to win:D:D

G damn guys, he changed to E-3 and gained 18 HP whats the problem, Someone changes any other part on the motor and makes and HP increase and its happiness all around. From the looks of things the guy knows his way around a motor.

Jeff
agree. his Duster is BADASS.
