My 69 Barracuda with 904 trans has backup lights that stay on. I replaced the 3 terminal switch with no change. No amount of adjusting the selector fixes the problem. The lights are not on when it's in park but do come on when in Reverse, drive, 2 or 1. The center terminal (NSS) works properly too. Temporarily I just disconnected the 3 terminal harness at the trans. and bypassed the neutral safety switch. Any ideas?

I would try a spacer, washer, O ring, or something on the switch to alter its depth.
I would have disconnected those lamp fixtures before defeating the neutral safety feature.

There is a chance that you have a 68 or earlier valve body in your 904. The rooster comb that operates neutral safety switch and back up lights is different. 68 and earlier was a single wire switch. 69 and later used the three terminal switch. Did it ever work properly in the past? Or is this a new set up to you?

Did it work before with that trans? I am going through this with a new trans they put the wrong rooster comb in, I just put a small pushbutton switch in for the back up lights for inspection.

Hmmm, I believe it used to work. I've never pulled the trans out of the 69 fastback but I do have another transmission for parts. What does it take to change the rooster comb? I'm thinking it's a bit worn.
