OK, I'm trying to put together a list of the parts I will need to complete my 360 swap and need some help from you guys. First off the car has no power steering, or AC so I need to figure out what pulleys and alternator bracket I need. The 360 came from a 1973 motor home and the crankshaft pulley that drives the alt. is the one on the very outside. (Closest to the radiator) I need to figure which crankshaft pulley I need to bring it closer to the engine? Second question is which alternator mount I need? The 360 engine came without an alt, or mounting bracket and the 273 mount will not work. I will also need a water pump pulley to make everything line up. Third question is What oil pan, and pickup will I need. And lastly the DREADED header question? Since I can't find a listing for Heddman I narrowed it down to either Hooker fenderwell, or Doug Thorley, and need opinions. I don't have a problem with cutting the fender wells and figured it would be easier to install the headers while I'm installing the engine. I'm trying to do this on a budget so I'd appreciate any tips on sources for the parts I need. Sorry for the long post! Thanks, Litz

I have what you need for pullies and brackets $75 + ship, add 3% for PP

You can use all the 360 stuff for your alt, use a 360 car pan works just fine, if your car is a V8 car, the hooker headers are horrible in my opinion, i have them on my cuda, i run the TTI in my 65 Signet, tight fit but they work good and you can access the bolts and oil filter.

headers on a 65...on a BUDGET? Aint gonna happen. All are $$$. Cheapest believe it or not are going to be $400 68 340 logs and they will work great. Hookers fit, Thorleys fit better. old Hedman's are wacky looking but probably breath the best due to their generous turns. Even logs on a 360 will work as the car is so light and the 360 has so much low end torque that youll blow traction before you know it and itll just keep coming. Headers are nice, logs fit and there is not much difference on a stock 360.

I agree with Pishta
If the 360 is keeping the 2bbl cam, then headers on a streeter are optional, for all the reasons he lists.

BTW
I once put a 340 in a 65V100 wagon. I dressed it up with the entire 318 top-end and cam. From the decks up it was 318. Then I installed some fenderwell headers,go figure. Oh yeah, I was about 23.I called it my big-bore-teener.
Man, that car was a blast to drive, even with the 7.25 rear. The 904 gave up in the second summer. The rear was still taking a licking!
The 360 is 20 cubes bigger, and was born with a bigger cam, and bigger heads. It will be bigger fun!

Going with a mild cam, intake, 600 Edelbrock, and headers for now and probably this fall pull the engine and do some upgrades. For now I have the 8 3/4 rear bolted in and need to pull the 273/904, prep and paint the firewall and front half of the underside, get the 360, and tf ready to install, and on, and on it go's! I'd like to swap the 727 for a 904 but can't seem to locate one out here. Imagine that.

I know the early A body headers aren't cheap. I don't have a problem spending 500-600.00 on headers but haven't found any that cheap. In this climate I don't need the ceramic coating. I had a set of raw Hookers in a 65 Coronet with a KB wedge that still looked decent after 16 yrs! lol Thanks for the reply! Litz

I'm using Hedman Fenderwells on my 360 in my 64 Valiant. I've been checking the headers to see if I can find a part number on there for you. Can't seem to find anything. Anyone know if a part number is imprinted anywhere on these and where?

I couldn't find a pn for the Heddman headers either. thanks for the reply.

I used those 5208s back in about 76 or 77, in my 65 V100 wagon. They were the only game in town. They slid right in there.
They did limit my turning radius quite a bit.
They didn't transition the best to street exhaust, but the car flew anyways.
