QuickTime T-56 Starter Issues

Am I correct in assuming you cannot see the starter engagement with the quicktime bell? It is solid with no "ports" right?

That starter seal would move the starter back a bit but not away from the ring gear.

Do you have a spare starter you can throw in to help troubleshoot? I'd also look at the gear on the starter you tried and see if it will tell you what exactly is jamming up. The root of the gear, or the nose, etc.

Good luck!
Thanks for the reply. I did try 2 different starters with the same result. You are right there is no inspection ports either side of the bell to see what's going on. The front corner of the starter gear was chipped on a couple teeth after I tried it.

Checking the depth to the flywheel with the starter out vs the depth of the gear on the starter it appears to have the 1/16" clearance needed. It makes me think the gears are meshing too tightly. I'm not really sure how to shim that or even check it too be sure
