i hope this makes sense, i have a 66 dart, but ordered lower ball joints for 73 dart, along with the rest of my front suspension parts to convert to disc,

problem is the lower ball joints compared to previous have, what looks like to be a turning stop nub, vs. the originals which do not.

now i am thinking i will have reduced turning radius, i could always bend the tab on the control arm, but would rather just order the correct parts.

has anyone seen this before?

I have done this swap a few times, 1st time in the early 80's my 65 cuda lost some turning radius. I heard from other friends to trim off 3/8 so that is what I did and has worked for me. I don't know exactly how much to cut off. I'm can't wait to hear the answers you get.

i removed about 1/4" off the '73 up lower disc brake ball joint stop to gain more turning radius.
it's a worthwhile modification.

i don't have a picture but with the later large lower ball joint in your hand their is an obvious
round knob cast in the back of the steering arm.It is correct for later cars but interferes with the earlier
A body lower control arm and limits / shortens the turning radius.

And if you have 72-down sway bar tabbed lower control arms the forward, lower ball joint to spindle bolt/nut hits the sway bar tab and need massaged too.

I just did lower ball joints on a 74 Duster with Disc brakes and the old joint had that nub and so did the new Moog's.

Ok so i prob should have know this, but the lower ball joint and control arms are different on the 66-72 and 73-up.

If i had used the matching 73 and up style lower control arms, then no issues.

In the end i just ground the nub off to get the steering radius needed. 80 grit flap wheel handled it easily.
