Hello, I’ve done my research and wanted to run my tire and wheel change on my mostly stock suspension 66 barracuda by everybody

Currently running 14x5.5 SBP steels with I believe 3.7” of backspace with 205/70s all around. On really hard turns (not normal) the front tires touch the Hellwig 1 ¼” sway bar) Normal use, does not touch (not shiny or marks on the tire)

I am planning on Cragar SS wheels – going with 15 x 7 with 4.125” of back space (I’ve read that with 15x7 should go with 4.5” of back space – but these are running wider tires than I plan – 235s or 245s)

Tires will be 205/60s in the front and 225/60s back (50 series seem to small)

Any issues with this combo? Should I go with a slightly smaller 215/60 in back?

Am I missing anything? Any issue with staggering the tires besides rotating

Thanks for the help

I had the 14x6 cragars all the way around with P215/70r14 never an issue with clearance. Be careful when going 15" because by chance you are using the same scale to measure the rears - the 15" is a diffrent diameter (example P215/70r14 was 24.5" high and p215/70r15 is 25.6" high.)

Turns out a friend had a fitment tool gauge. Sure took the guess work out of it. New combo coming soo.

Hey Joe that front license plate of your's should belong to me LOL!

66 Cuda.... My other car has just "DEMON", I have no idea how I was able to get that thru Connecticut DMV.... they are kinda strict about that kinda stuff - nothing suggestive.

The new wheels and tires are on. I think it looks great. Went from 205/70r14s to a staggered 215/45r17 in front and 235/45r17 in back. This dropped the front down a little bit and the rear is the same height

Cudajames- I like the new look. Please let us know what the rim sizes were that you bought and what rims are those? I know they are 17" but how wide and what was the offset? frt and rear?
Joe

The fronts are 17x7 with a backspace of 4.25" and offset of -6
The rears are 17x8 with a backspace of 4.5" and offset of 0

These are the racer grey wheels and the tires are the bridgestone pontenza re71r

Looks good!

But the offset on the front is +6 not -6 if they're 7's with a 4.25" backspace.

4.5 offset in the back is about perfect. those look nice. Your ride looks almost like an altered wheelbase drag car. Just the combo I guess.
