The way the switch normally works is there is power to the switch and when you depress the pedal power goes through the switch to the tail lights. A third wire could be for a third taillight , i.e. rear window, or for a torque converter lock up, etc., but never to ground, if it goes to ground it blows the fuse EVERY TIME! Ask me how I know :lol:.
