We are going to Carlisle and wandering if you can tent Camp there. Since my wife isn't going I don't have to get a hotel with a spa and my son wants to "Ruff It". I want to show the car but wander if I got Vendor spot and just stayed there. Can you spend the night there.

I always camped in my vendor spot

Yep but that's the only place inside you can camp any more

Offsite camping is poor , just a field with port-a-potties. More self contained RV oriented . A couple of private campgrounds outside the gates, pretty basic though. After camping on the grounds for over 20 years I'm done.

There is private camping straight out of gate 5 across Calvary Road.

I stayed at a state park about 17 miles away. Nice lake for kayaking. Gifford Pinchot SP.

Why do you want to wander? Why not stay in one spot?

For one thing, it is nice to get away from the grounds after a hot day in the sun. Plus, a lot of thieves and vandals at night, trust me, I have always set a tent inside all of my stuff. Several years ago a guy got the crap beat out of him for stealing. Just my opinion

For me, 17 miles, though a bit of a drive, is less than my commute to work. It was also nice to go and relax. The wife went with me and she walked every bit of the show and swap with me, so I thought it would be decent to have a place to get away.
If I was vending, I would be right there with coolers, grill & a Buford Pusser Stick for sure

Yeah the only place to camp is the vendors spots. There used to be a campground really close on the main drag, but the old man sold it and they built condos on it, I guess it was his retirement $$$. I remember the place being a mess though, overflowed toilets in the shower house etc.

I'll be camping on the floor in a hotel room or the back of my Tahoe but i'll be there.

Where I must be blind I only found $90 I guess I should get off my procrastinating a$$ and just call. The only camping is on clay street $35 dollars. If I have to leave will probably just go to state park. 17 miles is nothing. I'm just lazy don't wanna pack up every night. Heck I think a twin airmatress will fit in the fastback. Hotel will eat up my parts spending money.

Yeah, its a money racket. I live an hour away, and some years I just don't even go unless I need parts. I realized it was a money racket when I saw a guy selling small bolt rotors and Kelsey Hayes calipers that were just as junky as the ones on my car. I thought, "hell, why would anyone pay money for that?"

I'm sure you there will be tons of junk there. Just have to sift through it all....

I can agree to a point. A pair of KH Calipers can be rebuilt, but rotors as thin as saw blades are junk.

If you get a spot make it out in the area closer to the main gate. If back by the turnpike the truckers keep you awake all night- seems to be a game blowing their air horns as they go by- as if the truck weren't noisy enough....
