Who in the 'Ell thought THIS was a great idea? (NV3500)

I've been "toying" with the idea of converting the White Whale III to a stick. This is the 3/4 T I bought with a known bad transmission, 46RE. The recent "tow" on low speed winding roads, brought home how lame a 5.2/ 46RE (in the WW I) really IS at least with that gearing. With the converter / OD locked out, you are suddenly stricken with what amounts to an A-727...........spending a lot of time climbing hills in SECOND GEAR

ANYway.............

Found a real cheap SB junker 70's PU 4 speed, am going to get the New Process bell, etc out of that thing.......

And started looking at the possibility of an NV3500

BUT THE BELL is part of the TRANSMISSION!!!! This means if it was built for a chevy, well,.......it means that..................!!!!

I've actually got "one" NV3500, but it's unknown condition, has no shifter and is out of a 4x4. I'm actually thinking of ?? gutting the transfer case and throwing the darn thing in there
