I see in 1973 a 24" radiator was available in the a-body.

Spectra Cooling part number: CU499 for the 24"

While in 72 only a 18" and 22" were available: Spectra # CU526 for the 22"
Spectra # CU409 for the 18"

Will the 73 24" fit in a 72?

The opening in the radiator support is just about that size and the brackets vary depending on the radiator size. (meaning wider radiator= smaller side brackets.)
It will for sure fit in there but you may have to drill new mounting holes.
I put the 26" in my car and of course had to drill new holes.
 
What did the 26" one you used come out of, and in what car?

I used one in a 65 Barracuda out of a Dodge Diplomat....80s model. Took some massaging of the radiator brackets and the support IIRC.
