That's is a dangerous question

DO you mean a 383 BASED stroker?
Or do you mean a brand x 350 stroked to 383 CUI?
:poke:

I think the common 496 ci strokers from 440 source are in the 500hp ballpark

A stock stroke (3.75") 440 crank will yield 426 in a 383 or 470 cubes with a 4.15" stroker crank

In principle they will be........
426-496 cubic inches
400-800 horsepower

I know, I know, not helpful.

I have a 383 based 448" stroker with 906 heads. Based on 1/4 Mile times, it was about 510 hp at the flywheel. The heads flowed 152@.500 (flowed on a 10" bench). It was a 3.90" stroke with BBC rods. Cam in the motor is a Chet Herbert .480 lift 230@.050 hydraulic. It is the perfect everyday grocery getter combination. It actually had enough torque that it picked up the front tire at the strip. It really impressed the hell out of spectators.

LMAO I am a mopar guy. This is a mopar site. The brand X 383 never entered my mind.

Sweet ! I am looking for around 600hp on pump gas. Yea I know, let the coments begin. lol

600 hp shouldn't be a problem. Build a 450 with a 3.91 crank and a set of Trick Flow 240 heads and you should be there. Use a flat top piston to get the compression up around 10:1 and a solid roller cam and you'll make 600+ hp. I'd use a ported Trick Flow intake and 1 7/8 headers. It won't be a daily driver but it will run on pump gas and make more than 600 hp.

4.250 crank is the way to fly. I run one in a 400 (511) b body that is a true pump gas streetcar. Runs 10.90's through the mufflers and I drive it to the track. Only real issue with the 383 is you may have to do some unshrouding work at the top of the bore for the intake valve depending on head choice.

496 I built four years ago is coming back for freshening in the fall. 496, pump gas, solid flat tappet, Stealth heads, made 450hp to the tires, and won 1st (383 4bbl) for stock appearing at Carlisle with factory manifolds and repro exhaust. Without the factory manifolds (headers and bigger exhaust) it's gone up to 470hp to the tires with a Porter Racing custom cam. Using my conversions that's about 550hp at the crank, and he drives it everywhere including long highway trips.

Biggest things are heads and camshaft. If you want big numbers (that actually provide the expected accompanying performance), you HAVE to have the RIGHT matched package.

HEADS FLOW 152 @ .500 ?? Dam, I didn`t think any v-8 head would be that bad !

Awsome ! That is what I am looking for. Stock looking as much as possible. Pump gas, mid to low 11s, street driven. Maybe I wont need 600 HP but what ever I need ill do. Is there any pictures of the car ?

NICE !

Sorry - Customer's car. I don't have any. It's a 70 Challenger RT, 383 auto.

That is at 10". Corrected to 28" it is about 254 cfm............
sorry, that didn`t sink in! gotta admit, 254 ain`t nothing to brag about. I had a cheap set of sbc heads that flowed more than that .

906s with a little work will end up in the mid 250s on the 28" bench. Plus you never know how the operator flowed it. Minor tweaks in setup can change the results which is why I like to use MPH at the traps and weight to figure it out. That tells you what that engine actually makes in that car. It can be done with ET too but I like mph better because a lot of things can affect ET positively that don't mean it's making more power.
