I can't seem to find a listing for early A body headman small block headers? Do they even make them anymore? If not I need opinions/photos on Hooker, Doug's, and tti. Trying to make up my mind. The car is a 65 Valiant 360 T-flite. No pwr steering, etc. Also wondering how hard it is to run the 5208's into street hookups? Thanks in advance.

Your choices for under chassis headers for an early "A" are Doug's (have a set and like them ) or TTi's (also have a set but haven't run them yet ). Each set has their good and bad points; they are both expensive, they each will take just about a day to install, Doug's are an erector set, you assemble them in the car, TTi's require you to trim bits and pieces off engine and tranny, TTi's have larger tubes, require special starter.

So word of advice is to contact each company get all the info you can from THEM, think about what you want to do.

Good luck!

Thanks for the reply. I plan on installing the headers when I install the engine. Are you running a 904, or a T-flite? I have a 360/t-flite that I'll be using. (I'd rather use a 904 but got the T-flite with the engine and am on a tight budget for everything except the headers so I have to use what I have. I'm trying to decide between Hookers, and Dougs. Do you know the pn for the early Dougs? Thanks, Litz

My engine/tranny combo was/is, 318/904, and now 360/904, car is a 65 Barracuda.

450 is the p/n

Need at least 1 5/8headers or better off wth manifolds which I'm against.
Unless four speed.

There's also the choice of Spitfire headers still offered by Layson's.

Hedman USED to list 65 fit headers even in W2 flange but I dont see them anymore. If the DD8's fit the Early A's they really should advertise it so (no doubt they fit but its just strange they dont list it that way). Here are a few pics of some old Cyclones (with exhaust flanges) and maybe some old Hedmans with no flanges. both for early A's IIRC. (Thats why I would have them)

Headman will make the fender well headers for you. Give them a call. They do not list them, you have to talk to them and ask. They made them for a friend of mine last year for his 64 Valiant. I think it cost him 650.00

Yup. What Dave said.

I was looking at a "discontinued" set of headers they made back in the day. They were fine with making them one-off.

With CNC tube benders, you just run the header profile program and feed it tube. Then have the labor weld it to the flanges. One of my customers has an automated tube bender: Feed it a piece of tube, it runs it in and slides in a flexible cable with a bunch of preloaded disks that match the ID of the tube stacked on it. It moves the clamp down the tube where it needs to be bent and the disks follow it. The tube starts to bend right over the disks so they prevent the tube from kinking and then right before the bend is done, the disks get pulled out (with great force) and the bend is complete. Its all automated, really cool to watch.
