I've seen some pretty awesome DIY ones made from OSB. Easy to do for the most part and you can cover it with whatever you need to match the rest of the interior. Not sure about anything "universal" though.

There are several previous threads here with pics, drawings, etc..., if you can find them though search. I recall "corvair hump hugger". Maybe "cup holder" for search term. Good hunting :)

I too have considered using a 2015+ challenger console when the time comes. Mine will be a manual trans tho.

I bought mine from ModernClassics after seeing 76orangewagon's and after being warned that they sucked to do business with (no product for 2 months after being told "it was on the shelf" when I paid , until I called the CC company to dispute the charge). The products they have are however nice and not "boxy". I chose their Stiletto design because it has the same basic shape as the original but looks a bit updated. It allowed me to move the shifter to my reach ,put cup holders in and install a lighter/power point "with OE lighter" to match the factory dash knobs

The biggest deciding factor for a junk yard console is how much room you have between your bucket seats. With those measurements in hand including the length, you can go hunting, if your like me the width was not great so it limits you to usually smallish cars which have too short a console than what we want but lengthening a console is not a very big deal. Mine is from a 90s Kia Forte and I lengthened it 3''. The final product gives me a great place for my shifter, two extra electrical outlets, 2 cup holders and a very handy elbow resting pad which also holds my box of Kleenex and other articles. I was thinking at first of building a custom one but those can get expensive fast.

I used a 2014 Chrysler 200 console and 2003 Altima seats to convert my 68 Coronet wagon bench seat. These nearly fell into place.
