170 Slant six Oil capacity?

Hey guys. I would like to change the oil on my 170 /6.
may I ask you how much I need to put in then? I will also change the Filter.

If you use the factory style 3/4 quart filter, it should take 5 quarts...

If you use the longer 1 quart filter, then it should take 5 1/4 quarts...

I drove my 66 for 7 years and always put 5 quarts in my 170/6

Five quarts to start, run to check for leaks, check the dipstick. Make sure the rubber gasket comes off with the filter.

There is no factory 3/4-quart (or 1/2-quart) filter for the 170. The last year of the 170 was 1969. The first year the short filter was used from the factory was 1972.

Original poster: 5 quarts of appropriately-chosen oil and a good quality filter.
