408 Stroker Short Block Details: Blueprint Engines

-
I remember when a friend opted to order a long block kit from Scott Shafiroff racing engines. Oh did he get the dirty business from the local guys..... I put it together and it came with all machine work done and ready for assembly. It went together easily and all the machine work was fine. The end result was the car ran about a 10.0 in the quarter. When the season was through he was thoroughly convinced that a local and well respected builder would get the freshen up to show everyone how it was done. More compression, porting, and the list goes on.... All the drool coming out of peoples mouths about his new bad **** motor and the car picked up barely a tenth. I laughed at all of them and said good luck in life...

Omfg stop it lol. I can't even stomach another 8 paragraph, non related story about how getting fired by some bankrupt company that no longer exists somehow makes someone an expert on every other company in existance's company policies...or how assembling a kit from some unknown builder translates to "don't buy the bp you already bought"

Just some pics of a few details for anybody contemplating a 408 (this one is actually a 410 as it's .040" over) short block from Blueprint Engines. Finally got the short block on the engine stand ready to be assembled, checking it over closely. Looks really good, was sealed in a bag strapped to an enclosed crate that arrived intact. I'm seeing the bores at the deck and head bolt holes chamfered, underside the bores are notched for the rods, (which appear to have Chrysler part numbers), the edges of the piston skirts are chamfered, brass freeze plugs and threaded plugs installed with sealer, inside of block is very CLEAN, aside from the black paint which I'll be covering in race Hemi orange, it all looks great.

I just want to officially apologize, as this thread has been destroyed numerous times over from your original intent. Maybe it can go back on track since all opinions have hopefully been voiced.

Lol....... I would do it again tomorrow. In fact, if I would not hesitate to go with a BP but my situation may be different than alot of folks... I am curious though, how did you arrive at the Piston to Valve Clearance when you ordered the shortblock?

My 383 stroker came with a dyno sheet and it was NOT a photo copy....
I'm a REAL BP customer and was very happy.

Honest realtime realworld firsthand relevant documentation and pics in regards to a BP engine purchase! I like it!
OP has stated the FACTS.
If you dont like it shake the moths outta your fuckin wallet and pay for the engine he SHOULD run.
My lord fuckin ego is unbelievable.

Why can't the guy just come on here and tell everybody about the engine he bought, with his money? Let him be happy about it instead of shitting all over him.

Because we're ****... pure smelly ****... AND.. our fathers smell of elderberries!

I appreciate your input, and while it might seem like I want to tell the world and get attaboys that's not the reason, when I need info on something, I search for as much info and pictures as I can, like
the weiand intake porting. I couldn't find pictures of one worked over, so I did the grinding where it made sense and took pics so that maybe the next guy that comes along might get something out of it. Pure and simple. That's what I was doing, details and observations.

Definitely need more of it. The positives have been mentioned, about the only negative, or thing I'd do different would be to order it with no paint. Will have to do prep to ensure the orange paint adheres to the black already applied.

This is why I rarely post anything anywhere. No matter the original intent, someone somewhere is going to get his panties in a bunch and sidetrack the entire thread. OP, keep it up and let the screamers expose themselves. Most lurkers are here to glean knowledge and learn from others. Good luck with your project!

Yup, ain't the first thread to run off track, won't be the last. It's all good, including this nice shortblock from Blueprint! :)

This thread is awesome! Proof right here to do your own research and spend YOUR money as you see fit.
Has anyone that have had FIRSTHAND negative dealings with BP posted on this thread?
I dont recall reading any?
Yellowrose have you ANY FIRSTHAND experience with BP to add to rhis
Blanket statments all "PER'S" .... doesn't cut it, thats third party info. What 12many is.posting is first hand.

There's info here and there, don't think there's a specific one started about the shortblock (especially this one which is their revised version suitable for closed chamber heads) some a few years old, but haven't really seen details I was looking for. It really is a high quality assembly.

As a matter of fact, yes I have, but I didn't post the negative this time. I will not be posting it again. It is in the past. The OP likes his purchase and I still stand by my quoted post below.........

So it is an inexpensive engine. So what? I hope it satisfies the owner forever.

I'm glad some people can get the inexpensive deals, that I and others can't provide as lone guns.

12MANY, I had a problem picturing my car with a black engine too. I called BP about painting it orange and they said no problem, it would just take a while as they would have to build it from scratch. It's in transit now, Ill post my own pics when I unwrap it.

Thanks for posting your pics and observations. Good OBJECTIVE information.

Yeah I'd say painting over the black BP engine kind of hassle. I should've scuffed and shot with good engine paint instead of rattle can. There is my BP base in my 67 belvedere. Dustin

You said you got the short block. What heads were you going to put on it?

Objective experience, albeit a negative one unfortunately. But its honest and objective, no blanket statements, third party generalities.
And your posts didnt come with bashing.
