does anyone have a 68 dart missing a headliner. I want to install a 3 point seat belt. I would very much appreciate a picture to find the attachment point

If no one has one handy I will go take a pic tomorrow for you
I think I feel it about 3" back from where the back window on a hard top starts, would hate to be wrong. does anyone know if you could order red belts in a black interior car. much appreciated hemidart67

We saw this before, some 68 models had no hole for the shoulder belt! Look for SGBarracuda post's concerning this.

I looked through this post and those linked to it. The photos are great but I am still at a loss as to where to install the shoulder belt top mounts in my 1968 Barracuda notchback. The photo below does not match any of what I have seen here.

Where to install the shoulder harness mount.jpg

The front and rear window interface is clearly visible and I have noted the coat hook. My first inclination is to use the open space where the green rectangle is located as it should be easy to make a steel rectangle and mount the 7/16" nut behind it. It should then just be a matter of using a mounting bolt to install and rotate it 90 degrees for welding.
The second thought was to cut a round hole where the yellow rectangle is located and use some of the techniques previously suggested to mount the nut. A photo of a stock mounting location has the threaded factory hole forward of the coat hook.
Suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

This is a Fastback! But the hole should be close on the notch. The belt attachment is just above the door glass to rear glass location you may have marked as the coat hook. On a Fastback the coat hook is further back and only a small hole for the stainless screw to attach it. Hope this helps! The 68 may not have the bung for the belt attachment as you have previously read in the older posts. Others have welded in a blind nut.

edit

Your pic may be correct for the belt mount in the location you marked as the coat hook, and the small dimple behind the open hole you marked in green is for the coat hook. Not sure as I never had my old 68 notch down that far to confirm.

As shown in the picture above, the shoulder belt anchor should be in front of the coat hanger location.

This probably does not help as the angle is goofy, but belt mount in red and coat hook in green 69 Fastback. Your 68 is quite different.

Remarked for red belt and green coat hook. Confirm and verify as this is opinion only!

Thanks for the input guys!

I chose to fabricate anchors as per the photo below. The dimensions of the plate allow for insertion into the large hole and then 90 degree rotation.

Seat belt anchor.png

Fabrication steps:
1) The hole drilled through the plate must be 1/2" to accommodate the non-threaded part of a seat belt anchor bolt.
2) The five fender washers are held in place with a 1/2" nut/bolt to centre them during welding to the plate. The washers bring the finished thickness up to the level of the sheet metal.
3) A seat belt anchor bolt is used to hold the nut in place. Use additional fender washers on the front side to ensure the nut is tightened securely.

Installation:
1) The anchor bolt must be removed to install the assembly through the hole and then rotate it 90 degrees.
2) Re-install the anchor bolt so that you can hold the assembly in place to tack it. Remove for full welding.
3) I used fiberglass bondo to provide a clean finish over the plate area.
