65 Barracuda Strip to Street/Strip build

A race car with a passenger seat? :poke: I am in need of rewiring my race car as well and noticed the pic of the relay panel under the dash on the tunnel that you did. Would you mind posting or PMing a larger image of just that panel? I am trying to come up with a plan for mine. Nice work on your ride! Thanks. L8r

Ya - I know with passenger seat. Issue is some of the classes we will run in require it .. along with "stock appearing" dash, floor covering, etc. Just a way to seperate/define street .... but ... then .... its really not street in true sense.

I will get you that pic ... let me look through what I have.

That's interesting. I have not run across any such rules around here! L8r

who's rocker assemblies are you going with ? t&d set ups nice package , but b3re has another type he uses as well .

Confirmed this set: Harland HD S70015KE rocker set for the Trickflow BB Mopar heads for a 1.5:1 ratio.

Will keep updated on the geometry work.

Motor is getting there.

sweet looking , how the valve train geometry , do the marker test yet ?

Thanks ! Not sure on how far with geometry he is. We are still traveling. I get back Tuesday. I know there's more port work to do. Didn't get to speak to engine builder yet but he's very thorough. I'll update mid next week

the lash on the stems is some thing you can do , just take a marker pen , black the tips of of the stem tips , place your rocker assembly in place adjust the lash and rotate the motor a few times without plugs in it . then inspect the stem tips , should have a mark straight acrossed them in a line right through the center of the stems . low of center is not great , but high of center can be lead to damaged parts and major damage to the engine . that just the start of the set up .

Roger. Wilco! Thx

Thanks. I can't take credit ... the guys who built it into a drag car did a nice job with most everything ... its made our job with the body much more pleasant!

Latest updates. Been a bit. Work and waiting on parts. Usual game. Lol

Decided to covert roll bar into a 10 point certifiable cage. Swing outs next week. Also working on strut tower reinforcement required for Magnumforce front assembly (suppose to ship out today) We fit the Fuel Tech ECM and harness today. Trailer hitch done and fuel system up to engine compartment.

When things were slowing down I decided to black out the front valence. And got little carried away. Lol

We're getting there. Finished tower reinforcements. Shifter mount done. Painted interior roof, bars and reinforcements. Will black out rest engine compartment Monday. Piddly other stuff done this week. Man it adds up. Lol.

Confirmed trans, GV and Magnumforce ETA. Next week finish interior and hopefully headers built.

18 August is hard target. Need few weeks road testing and some hits at track.

Interior close to being complete. Used dynamat-type flooring for heat mitigation and simple speaker carpet. I found some faux leather to fix some tears in the door panels and to make sail panels. Decided to use it on tunnel.

Tomorrow I just need finish wiring trans brake, GV and a couple cigarette lighter adapters (for GPS and phones on the road). Also will install homemade sail panels and LED interior back lights.

I'll get some pics tomorrow of converted distributor for cam sensor Ev did. He also worked on engine plate to fit oiling system and prepping for alternator mounting.

Next couple of weeks are big ones. New k-member, motor and trans go in. And headers being built. Woot.

And, yes, the circa 1985 fan is staying. Lol. Everyone keeps ribbing me but it's just so .... this car. ;)

Magnumforce Front end coming together. Bolted up nicely. Very nice piece.

Will need little more fab with steering but not bad. And will need modify the pan - cut back couple inches. Expected both though.

Good day - Engine, trans and GV in. Need some work on driver's side valve cover to clear brake master. No biggie. Water pump in as well (no pic yet) Springs and shocks due in tomorrow. Need to get him rolling so can get going on headers.

you can offset your master cylinder for clearance there . that will be going on and off more then the master will . get it out of the way if you can . but its looking very mean .

Thanks! For sure with periodic valve adjustment and such. You're right. We're just going to try to see if quartering the back portion of the cover can do it without moving the MC or having to fiddle with it to get cover off. Trying to save as much clearance for the headers as possible there and into wheel well. If not then offset

Was surprisingly more room on passenger side for header clearance than expected. So that was a bonus. The few and far between with a build like this. Lol.

did you offset the engine or straight down the bay ? if there room push the engine over to the passenger side some . its a torque thing , more hanging off the lift side , can keep the car straighter on the track . my 63 sf has it slammed up against the passenger inner fender wells . and nosed up , mines mounts on a plate too .

It is offset and a bit up as well. Good to know it helps - thanks!

It's not as "stuffed" looking as I thought it would be. But then again headers aren't on.

Headers tacked and all set to be welded. Cooling system all in. All wiring set to hook up just a couple things on harness left to pin. Hope to finish hooking up fuel system tomorrow, fan and alt.
