Why so critical of "universal" flex radiator hoses?

I think it all comes down to what you are doing, that pic of my engine bay was back when it was on the road before restoration, which I am now in the middle of. The OcD people are obviously car show critics, and people who think they are getting $30K when they sell. My car is a driver, and after it is done it will get driven. It also ran very well with the 318 with 340 air cleaner, and flexi hose/ yellow wires. I would get compliments when it was in primer like in my avatar by old heads who remembered what it was. "that sounds good, is that a 340 in it?" I would always respond truthfully, "no, its a 318, I have the 340 on the stand though" these cars arent for show, they are for go and I often miss my car when it wasnt taken down for resto, mainly because I wont beat the balls off of it like I used to when it was a gray primer outlaw mobile. I will probably drive sensibly for fear of chipping the paint.... maybe not, but point is, my car wasnt in a show being judged, and like previously mentioned, I put it together with what I had laying around in the garage. Definitely low budget. Which comes back to the point of the OP, a flexi hose is "low budget" Some of the people on here can afford to fuss and nitpick, when you are in your late 20's and thirties with old lady and kids, you do what you gotta do to get your **** running. My car is slowly coming around, I tell people its in better shape now than it ever was
