i am looking for a good set of radiator hoses. Also does it make sense to delete the heater hoses if the car won't be driven in the cold? If so how is this done with plugs in the waterpump?

Thanks Joe

O'Reilly. They sell premium Gates hoses. They may not have them in stock, but they can usually get them within a day.

Thanks for the help. Is anyone eliminating the heater hoses. How would you bypass it

I bought rubber caps from somewhere??? I capped off the water pump and screwed a plug into the intake manifold. I also put a pair on the heater core to cover up the nipples. If the one on the water pump blows I can always take one off of the heater core and be on my way.

i've bought my hoses from rockauto or amazon the last few times i bought them... usually cheaper then local places and they are delivered to my door..:)

The safest ways to delete your heater hoses are either to use a short loop of hose between intake and water pump or plug the intake and tap/plug the water pump nipple. Here's a very sad example of what can happen when one of those rubber caps blows at an inopportune time:

Whats left of a 73 Duster

You can buy the rubber caps in the Help section at auto parts. But, I just carry for emergency use. They don't seem rugged. My 2002 3.8L factory plumbing had one capping an unused port on the rear of the water pump housing. It leaked, and at first I ASSumed it was the water pump. I replaced w/ a short section of 5/8" silicone heater hose (ebay) w/ a copper cap inside. You might just loop it. Silicone is more flexible so the loop can be shorter. It also will last forever. For bling, it comes in blue, or black for stealth.

If you want good ho's, you need to find a good pimp....

Who pays retail? A pimp upcharges. Get some game and get your own ho's

What year and engine?
I just found the "correct" molded hoses at Advance.
They were the only one that had the right numbers in the system for a 73 318 car.
Dayco.

I honestly don't know and with the clamps I used, I can't just zip it off and measure it for you. It's a stock upper radiator hose that I got off of RockAuto.com It's a Gates 20602

GATES 20602 Radiator Upper Hose | RockAuto

And to you all worried about blowing out those cheap caps on the water pump, I'm running Evans waterless coolant, so my radiator pressure is almost no existant.
