My father inlaw passed away in January, and left everything to his wife of 8 years. Sunday we celebrated his life, he didn't want a funeral, instead he want us to get together with our cars and have fun. His intentions were to leave his pride and joy, a beautiful 67 Chevy II to my nephew. Unfortunately he never put it in his will, and from word on the street my mother inlaw had no intention of giving anything to us! Well, on Sunday, after being more or less shamed into doing it, she gave Ryan his car, kicking and screaming the whole time I might add!! Regardless, it is now in my nephews name as he wanted, and resides in my garage until he car find storage. I love coming home from work and seeing it next to my 69 dart like it always was at car shows. Now my driveway looks like it should, and I feel blessed that it is in good hands again!! Pic's are from his celebration too. The last pic is of Ryan when grandpa brought this car home, and I couldn't imagine it going to anyone else, he is a great kid, he is 26 years old, has 2 kids, a great job, his own home, and has been in the national guard for 8 years! He is a great example for other kids his age, and I couldn't be prouder of him!

Sorry to hear of pop-in-laws passing only to be followed up by his widow being a selfish *** that would probably never do anything with the car anyways.

Most pleased to read the young gun got it!
She was bitchin the whole time? Everyone should get back into (relentless) shaming her again for such behavior. Just for fun of course.....
What the hell is she thinking?

Yeah, Karma is a *****, that's what I was always told.

And thank you for the kind words about Bill, he was a great man, some of you on here knew him, and can testify to that!

My condolences on your loss. Tough to deal with but in the end his wish was granted. I had the same problem with my Dads gf when Dad passed. Total shitshow, I had to buy dads 67 from his estate. Dad didnt update his 15 year old will.
I haven't seen or spoke with her since a week after dad passed.
Very cool pics! Thanks for sharing

Thank you!, I don't understand how some people can do what they do, I give everyone a fair shake. He told all of his friends what he wanted, but if it's not on paper, it doesn't matter. Dealing with his loss was hard enough, he was my best man in my wedding to his daughter, but this **** takes it to a whole new level. Just glad we can move on and remember all the good times now!

LOTS of mine and Dads family/siblings are pi$$ed but I try not to be. Dad never thought it would have turned out this way, but I wanna take the high road in Dads memory. Or I would be bitter forever.
Cool seeing that green on a Chevy! I like it.

I hear you brother, I have decided I can't let it consume me anymore, I can't change things, and have no control over it anymore. When my father inlaw was 18 , he bought a brand new 70 Dodge Charger R/T 440 6 pack super track pack car in lime green, and always loved that color. As the years went by he switched to Chevy, but he always loved them Mopars, he and I had a fond liking of the 63-65 post car's and when we would go to shows, we always were drawn to them. He told me many stories of his street racing back in the day, and said none of his buddies could match up with that charger! His best friend John had a new 70' boss 302 and he could hang with him until about 60 mph, and then it was all over he said lol!

Sorry to hear of your loss and now the future is forward and that past is on the backside now.... He looks like a fun guy to have been around..... What is he going to do with the car? It looks like a fun piece to have in the garage....

Tell the young gun to hang on to the car. Those were definitely the wicked witch of the west back in the day. My dad has told me many times that when they use to street race back in the day those cars were tough to beat.

He will never sell this car, it will stay in the family! He also inherited a 1960 Chevy impala which was bought new by my wife's grandfather, but that one needs a little more work to finish. Cars are a family affair for our family, so like i said, it's in good hands now!

Glad to hear it worked out for everyone!! I've got a buddy that was in a similar situation that didn't end as well on a late 60s AMC rambler that was actually his dad's. His cousin actually challenged the will and long story short, actually won the rights to the car. This was two years ago. But as karma would have it, the cousin lost his job last month and now has to sell the car to no other than my buddy. Who snatched it right up.

Moral of these stories, make damn sure your wills are updated (every couple years as that's what screwed my buddy in the first place as his dad's will was over 10 years old)

I hate hearing of your loss but I am so glad it all turned out as yo wanted it to and should have. sounds like a great young man and very deserving of this car and your friendship.

Ryan sounds like a great guy! I can't imagine anyone more deserving of his grandfather's car! Sorry about all the family issues, but kudos to you for hanging in there with Ryan to get such a sweet ride!!

Well, maybe the old woman knows the car is worth something, maybe she needs a few bucks, we all do. Its good that the nephew got the car from her, it could have turned out different. Mybe throw her a few bucks, or go over and mow the lawn for a year, try and keep the peace. Its a ***** when ya get old especially for women who are single/alone.

That's good to hear. My only advice for him is if he wants to put his own flavor on go for it but think about what is being changed on the car and keep oddball parts that made the car what it is today. Down the road it may end up looking just like it does today and it's hard to track down stuff like a specific radio that was in the car at the time he took possession of it.....

Good luck,
JW

My father inlaw asked me to help out over there when he was gone, then I find out she is talking **** around town behind my back, 2 days after he passed she was down at the bar trying to find another guy, she's on her second one since he died. Pretty sure I'm not going to be played for a fool any longer, I did my part!!

Yeah, he is leaving it exactly like it is, except a new motor is going in it. The car is pro street, so not alot of the original stuff was there anyway, the car used to run mid 10's on spray back in the 90's. The 406 that was in it was taken out, in favor of a stock 350 to make it streetable, now we are going to detune that 406 and make it more street friendly, should be a great street strip car!

An easy peazy 406 in that car is 11's all day long. 2 Bolt block and keep the compression down so the webbing in the bottom of the block doesn't puke on you lol.... I work with a guy who has a 331 in a Nova and he was drooling over the car today. I would be curious what it weighs now with the changes.
