Looking back on what I have done this project has probably been on my bucket list and thanks to another member on here a gun went off in my head and here we are. What I have is an original 72 H Code car that is pretty close to original. That's about to change. I have a RB that has been sitting on the stand for about 20 years and it's time to put it to work. I am sure somewhere in the archives there is a great thread about what I need to accomplish the conversion to a big block but have had no success in locating it. So is there a good thread about what I need in the way of parts and mods to make it happen?

What I have is a Complete Long Block, 2" TTI's, and a BB Transmission (727.) The car has Power Steering and will retain that. I have Hydroboost on the brakes and that is fab work plain and simple make room the motor. Any info is appreciated and if this question is like a broken record and someone can provide a link so I can get a good list going for myself that would be great.

Thanks,
JW

Can't help you with your build but I do have one thing to say, " You're going to have to change your FABO name" if you install an RB in your car. It won't be slo' no mo' !!

You will need small hands to work on it in that tiny engine compartment...

Will the tti's work with the power steering box?? I thought Schumacher had the only ones that would. I have mod'd long tubes in mine to clear.

Motor mounts
Big block bellhousing
Bigger torsion bars
Rear axle???
Radiator
Fan clearance WILL be an issue and seems every solution is different. What works for some doesn't work for others.

Good list start. Allow me to make my list from my conversion of a /6 - 400.

Schumacher Creative Serives /6 - B/RB swap kit. Also, I purchased the torque arm/engine strap.
Bigger aluminum radiator purchased from Summit
Cables from Lokar (no stock parts to reuse)
Shorter Hayden viscous unit with use of mechanical fan. (Not yet on the car, electric fan is in use for now.)

Shorten driveshaft
(This may not be needed if you had a 727/4spd in the car beforehand and your not changing the rear.)
Swap whimpy 7-1/4 for a 8-3/4
S/S springs

Still in use without issue are the OE
Torsion bars
4 wheel 10 inch drums rebuilt

Small parts;

Electrical wires, tape, connectors for lengthening and shortening wires under the hood.

New water temp, oil pressure sending units.

I could lengthen the list except that would depend on what your doing with the car. Drag, driver, auto cross?

IMO you need to first find a donor body for your new engine......fix/rebuild the matching number engine and leave the H code car an H code car.......

I am probably not a huge hit at the Mopar shows.... Truth be known I would put a V6 Drivetrain in it out of a Buick GN but that would probably get me shot lol....

LOL, your car your way.....

I took her virginity when I upgraded the brakes lol.... How did the Lokar stuff work out? Did you get kick down and throttle cable?

As for the intent of the car, street driving and some laps at the dragstrip. My dad is excited about doing this with me as he has never driven an A Body with a Big Block. It appears as though the Heads on the motor are not optimum based off of a members feedback ( god I like his honesty lol) so it is what it is for now. The bottom line is I got bored with the direction of the car and made a change lol....

Yes, both cables. The Lokar cables were ez and effective. (bouchon (sp?) also make similar/same cables for less I'm told.)
EZ to do and adjust. I hooked it up to a TQ.

I have a steel driveshaft for a 727 to 8 3/4 if you have a need, worked fine in my rb duster. Slant 6 torsion bars worked fine for me too. Have some SS springs too, I switched to mono leafs. Let me know if you are interested in the items listed above.

Tell me more about the Driveshaft. This car had a 727 originally and still has the factory Driveshaft.

I was hoping to see that. I don't want to modify any of the original linkage from the car. The original Drivetrain will be put in the corner in case my brainstorm goes south on me lol...

The only other thing I see currently getting in my way is the Heater motor. I see that there is a shorter version. Is this the most logical route short of removing the motor (which is not an option?) Since I am running a solid camshaft for a while getting the valvecovers off will be neccessary....

Thoughts?

Steel driveshaft nothing fancy, I installed new ujoints shortly before I upgraded to an aluminum one, would sell it, $100 plus shipping.
