I'm trying to piece the motor and tranny back together on my 69 340 Dart. It was a partial basket case when I bought. I'm trying to figure out what the original bell housing mounting bolts look like. Does anyone have pictures of the correct factory bolts or shots of a mounted bell housing?
I'm pretty sure I still have them in a box somewhere. I just need a tip on what to look for....

they look kinda like the intake bolts only bigger. They are hex, but the heads are not flat, they have a slightly raised edge so that the head top face is slightly dished. They also have a captive free spinning washer under the head.

In addition I believe mine we only a grade 3 bolt.

Most of the bolts that go from the trans side into the block are 3/8" coarse thread about 1 1/2" long for automatic bell housing - adjust length as needed for your application...

Then there a couple at the bottom that are 7/16" coarse thread that go in from the front through the block and thread into the trans on the bottom sides.... Not sure of the length for those but I would guess about 1 1/2" - 2"....

You can get some grade 5 or grade 8 bolts from your local hardware or home improvement store...

Ooops, I meant grade 5, like krazykuda mentioned (not three, where'd that come from??!) I do remember they weren't grade 8. Although there is no reason not to use 8.

Grade 5 will work, grade 8 is extra insurance...

These bolts are essentially grade 5 hex cap screws available through any decent fasteners supplier. You want a 3 point logo on the top which is grade 5

Did the automatics use the same bolts to the engine that the 4 speed bell housing to engine used?

Here is a picture of the bell housing with a couple of possible bolts that I came up with in my collection of hardware. Just so everyone knows what I'm trying to do, is to put the engine and tranny back together using as much of the original factory fasteners as I can. The car was partially taken apart 40+ years ago and has been sitting since. I'm trying to put it back on the road and keep it as original as I can.

The one on the right looks correct.

the bolt on the right is exactly what I used. I sourced them from my 77 Cordoba. I wouldn't used the one on the left without a washer though.
