Spare Tire ?s

After nearly 14 years I decided I should probably check to see if I have a spare tire in the GT. I removed everything from the trunk (10' X 10' canopy, bag chairs, tool box, fluids containers, jumper cables, scissor jacks, 2" X 4", etc...), pulled the trunk mat, removed the spare tire card and found this:

I thought for sure it would be a full-size spare.

Now for my questions:
Would you guys trust/use this temporary spare (50 MPH max)?
2nd will this fit my 5 on 4" small bolt pattern axles?

If it's over 10 years old I wouldn't run it at all.
 
Many things come into play here. Wear (if any) age, has it stayed inflated ? Country of manufacture. What is your GUT telling you?

Definitely over 10 years old.
Didn't think it was the right bolt pattern.
My gut tells me to get the full size spare.
The trunk floor was level (there was a 2" X 4" inside the rim holding it up).

I assume these cars (340 Swingers) came with E70-14 tires(?). With that said, would a 14" X 5 1/2" wheel (small bolt pattern of course) with a P205-70R14 tire be sufficient?

If you want to keep the floor level, you need a 155R14 on the stock 5.5" wheel. Coker tires sells them. I got one for my GTS and it sits perfectly in the spare well.

Yeah, after a while it will. But how far, and at what speed do you plan to drive on the spare? The 155R14 tire pictured is 23.8" diameter, a little small IMHO. You can get a 25.8" tire in the well, however they are all a little to "thick" and the trunk floor ends up with a small hump in the middle. That's what I wound up getting, a 195/70R15C Goodyear Cargo G26.

Rotate... Put the smaller tire on a front, and then one of the good front ones on the rear.... That way you have two tires the same size on each side of the axle and the front are free to spin as needed... Problem solved if you are worried about your sure grip...

A 5 bolt 4" circle does approximate to 5 bolt 100mm. Meaning that it will most likely fit. That wheel and rim looks like a mopar FWD 5 bolt 100mm donut spare. I'd say thats better than nothing in a pinch, or a rim n tire that doesnt fit. Matter of fact i remember seeing a set of small bolt pattern rallyes on a dodge neon one time. 5 bolt 100mm circle. Guy told me they were a direct bolt on.

I will be running 15s and 225 60 R 15s on the rear of mine, and i also upgraded to a 5 bolt 4&1/2" circle. I will be using a donut spare out of a mustang GT in my spare tire well.
 
I wouldn't say I would worry,just a thought for I had run through my brain.......inquiring minds and all........:)

My GT is a '71. I was thinking that little donut spare came from a Neon or similar type car. I'd never trust/put a "5 bolt 100mm" wheel(s) on a 5 on 4" bolt circle vehicle.

I'm looking for a single (1) 14" X 5 1/2" factory Rallye wheel (I have a WTB post) to use a spare, as I know the Rallye wheel will clear my SSBC front disc brakes. Anyone have one?

100mm = 3.937". That's not the same as 4". Yes, you can in fact mount a 5x100mm wheel on your 5x4" bolt pattern hubs. You can usually "get away" with it because Neon's and other 5x100 dodge vehicles use 12mm lug studs, with is .472", so the mounting holes on the wheel are oversize for a 7/16" stud. Of course, when you tighten down the lug nuts they center in the holes thanks to that handy taper they have, and you're placing a side load on all of your lug studs. Personally I think adding an additional shear load to mildly undersized 7/16" wheel studs is a horrible idea.

Good plan, stick with something that's actually 5x4".

I have researched the 100mm pattern to use an a 4inch pattern. Real close, BUT IMO not interchangeable. You can get them to fit, and bolt on,but the studs are deflected just a little, might be enough to break down the road. IMO.

What's that?
Haven't run one since the car hit the road in 1999. I'm usually no more than 1/2 hr from home, occasionally as far as 1.5 hrs. But,$100 gets me a flat deck and a ride.
Although I did make a run to Minneapolis in 2004, sans spare as well.

I did get a flat once tho. Noticed it when I came to a stop. I was 3 miles from home. Dang! Tire was beyond salvage.Called the flat deck man, and he delivered us straight to the tire shop for two new fronts.
Huh. I guess I must have a spare around here somewhere then. Lesee, maybe I got an old spare rim too.........
But I run big and littles, so the well won't accept a 295,(27") and with my luck it'll be the back that blows. (Not that I need luck with just one flat in 125,000 miles since 1999) My fronts are 235/60-14 so about 25.1 tall.
I suppose I could stick something in that tub, but then, where would I put all my tools and spare parts? lol.
