Is anyone using big block headers that do not exit through the front wheel wells on thier early A body?

Maybe if they are using an aftermarket K-frame with coil-over shocks that eliminates torsion bars, but that's the only way I see possible. Even then it would be tight.

A company called TTI makes a really nice set of big block a body headers to be used with either stock or aftermarket front suspensions the only problem is they are a bit pricey I payed 800 bucks for mine.

I would venture to say NO. There are only a few of us that run inside frame headers on these cars....Passenger side is almost possible but the steering is too far back (67 moved it forward) and hits the bottom tubes. Driver side is awful.

You could make them yourself. I still had to modify the passenger shock tower and ditch the torsion bars to clear everything. Running factory steering linkage

WOW!! You must be a doctor Matto. That's some pretty precise fitting you have going on there.

Thanks, there isn't much wiggle room when stuffing a 440 in an early A. You really have to build the car around the motor

No one makes **** for a big block early a for the most part.

Maybe a smaller tube custom made.

Fenderwells look much better though. Still custom made. :)

I figured as much. I'm considering a car that someone stuck a 400BB in with stock manifolds. They eliminated the heaterbox and massaged the trans tunnel and firewall. I'd like to keep the BB but really wanted to put the heaterbox back in it. The wife likes to go for rides but gets cold. Here is a pic. Any thoughts?

i ran a stock heater box in my 64 valiant with a 440 in it.. used moroso valve covers. cleared perfect. and my motor was sitting a tad high so i didn't have to notch th ek-frame for the oil filter.

hi-po logs fit if you shimmed the motor over 1/4 inch toward the passenger side. I also put 1" spacers under the K member to help 727 trans clear the tunnel.

I don’t think I ever uploaded finished header install pics. Here’s something to get you inspired

Very nice fabrication. Any pictures of the underside. Tube size ?

Thanks, I went with 2” primaries into a 3” collector. I’ll post some decent pics of the underside when I get it up on the lift at work this winter. Has a full exhaust now that exits in front of the rear tire.

The color is “raw steel” ceramicoating from a local place here in Portland, OR.
