why do people help make old cars look bad

-
To each there own. Maybe the one who painted the grille was a 16 yr old and not sure how to remove grille? Way quicker to give a quick spray then do a restore.
Funny how we ***** about people at car shows with THEIR opinions and OUR cars. Yet we come home jump on the computer and do the same fn thing lol.
Other than the cool cars with painted grills and bumpers posted, a waste of a thread

Noticed that, too?

Lol yep. Some people just feel they need attention I guess.
Previous owners will do what they want while they own the car. Obviously it wasnt that bad or the car wouldnt have found a new owner??
Wah wah wah
I wonder how much TIME and how much MONEY it costs to "correctly" restore a grille and/or bumper? Think a teenage kid has the time/money/patience to do it "properly"?
Yet still enjoy their car?
6pks Demon and Lustles Dart are making people eat their words. Hope their hungry lol

grilles, i thought we were talking about bumpers?

kinda funny you brought up grilles, because i have been outspoken in my opinion on painting bumpers...but i guess i dont fel the same when it comes to grilles
(i didnt want to fix/restore the stock grille in the duster, so i bought this 69 valiant grille, and partly painted it)

Little late to this thread but one that really annoys me is painting the underhood black. Under the hood inside the fenderwells etc. Especially when not needed from a color change or other damage just painting it black on top of the correct body color.

Looks cheap as f***.

I demand you do it my way, because it looks cheap and not very well thought out.

Looks like one huge shortcut. Cheap and lazy.

The stock grille looks so much better. You should have restored it. And while you're at clean the black off the windshield reveal molding and the door handles. That's just fugly and has no place on the car.

Just a taste of your own medicine when you insert your opinion on others builds.

Personally I have no opinion unless it's asked for. It's your car. Do it your way.

exactly my point, thank you
:poke:

seriously though, i can take it
(and i totally agree on the windshield trim and door handles)

Then fix it.

What are you waiting for? You actually take that to cruise in's and shows looking lime that? I'd be embarrassed by it.

The OP mentioned grilles and bumpers in the 1st post.
For me I like stock looking which sucks cuz a 67 and 69 cuda grilles are not cheap and not interchangeable.
That said we all make our personal choices in regards to our car. Whether its DIY resto or modify or "patch work" or do high end stuff. Grilles and bumpers painted black and/or body color can look great, and also look shitty but the stock appearing can look just as shitty. Its an individual choice/bellybutton

What you did with the duster looks awesome!

Oh I don't think it looks so bad. I thought it tied the black bumblebee stripe and black vinyl top together. I didn't totally black my grille out, I cleaned the ribs around the parking lights. My grille has been black since 1985.

airbrushing my valiant to look old. Is there a difference??? And my grill is black, along with the trim, and bumpers. Ignore the red hood. I need the red as the base for when I airbrush that part of the car.

I'm just happy to see these old cars continue to live on. No matter how they look, if they are still running the streets after 40-50-60 years later, that to me is the coolest thing ever

your not done with that paint yet get on it man I'm waiting to see the finished product. Is that the water base still on it or are you done practicing.

I can't wait till I get my AAR CUDA HOOD on my 67 we will all have a good time with it when I post pics. I love America, freedom of speech and this place where we can voice our opinions, and we are all grown men and women and not insulted by what someone says and get all butt hurt about it. OPINION ON MY FELLOW AMERICANS and CANADIANS. If your from another country You're welcome!

I'm sorry. I see the butt hurt coming more from people who act like they should have been consulted first about what others are doing.

As I said, the only opinion that matters on my build is mine.

You have a right to your opinion. I have a right to dismiss it, especially if I didn't ask for it. So, don't get butt hurt when I tell you what to do with your (the royal usage of the word, not you specifically) opinion.
