why do people help make old cars look bad

Thanks a bunch....in the end finances directed a lot of the build. Repop bumpers were more than I wanted to spend...and mine were dented up. That being said...I see painted bumpers that don't look good as well. All depends on the execution, I suppose.
 
I'm thinking that Demon in the first pic was "blacked out" in the 80's or early 90's. It comes down to people know everything, but don't know nuttin, for example, how to locate the correct paint and texture for a Mopar grille
 
I'm so confused, Does this qualify as a "Blacked out Grille" because that is what I was going for.

So does being politically correct when discussing ignition timing, we should now refer to the settings as handicapped or non handicapped? Or 2 degrees disabled and 18 degrees non disabled? You can call having to take "bowel movement" or maybe "having an upset stomach" or doing "number 2" , but in the end your still taking a "****". People need to quit being so damn thin skinned!

And people acted shocked when Trump won. Get over it people we are sick of PC and are beginning to fight back.
 
painted bumpers? I had many E bodies back I 80's and very early 90's ( then got smarter! ha).... very few came with those " painted "rubber " bumpers. few! but those were a highly regarded option. so lets take this thought to the A body. if a guy has a BAD oem chrome bumper, what is such a crime to clean that up and paint it body color?? it could be replaced later with a good chrome one if so desired. the "sport" model RAMS with body color bumpers? look cool to me.
big thing on redoing a grill if need be, is to understand what the oem paint was, color and texture. or if not worried bout such, just spray it whatever!! ha
 
Years ago I picked up a 72 Demon... the grille was still original but it had a few cracks in it so I plastic welded them up and spent days afterwards masking and repainting it in the correct argent silver. Felt like it took forever but the results were worth it.

I eventually sold the car and assumed it went to a good home but less than a year later, it popped up for sale online looking pretty much the same except my labour-of-love grille had been completely blacked out and had a large R/T badge stuck on it. My head exploded but what can you do? Once the car is gone, it's gone. Demon R/T... sheesh. :(
 
hey, Demon RT's are darn rare and worth really big bucks.. seen em on feebay! they aid, ma mopar only made 3 total , all black ones , 4 speeds, came with fatory with Diplomat seats.
 
I painted my grille black because I like how black looks with my main color. I have another bumper painted red too but I like the chrome better. I do have a correct color restored grille and headlight trim but I'm holding off on it because I really like the black. I also get beat up because of my console top being painted body color and not being correct for the car (and it's really dusty too!), but I'm happy with it and it will likely stay until I change my mind.

Agreed ! He did a nice job, did it himself. Combined 2 and got one nice piece. Heck, I don't care whether he paints the support or not. It's a race car. I see a electric fan and a cooler that shouldn't be painted.

Hmmmm-----It has always been my opinion that "correct for the car" is the privilege of the guy writing the check to determine-----------------
There is no right or wrong-subjective beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Ask Melania Trump-----------:)
