It's the ballast resistor in the ignition circuit. They should have one at your local parts store. I carry a spare in the glove box at all times.

x2 Sure sounds like a ballast resistor. The engine will continue running as long as you have the key in the crank position. Not good to do but as a test for a few seconds.
