Television Squad Cars

A 383 super commando was Adam-12 1969 powerplant.

From IMDB:
The patrol cars in the series were not real LAPD cruisers but were purchased by Universal from Chrysler Corporation and American Motors, and outfitted by the prop department to LAPD cruiser specs. In order, the cars were: 1: 1967 Plymouth Belvedere 383 V8 ("pilot" only); 2: 1968 Plymouth Belvedere 383 V8 (season one); 3: 1969 Plymouth Belvedere 383 V8 (season two); 4: 1971 Plymouth Satellite 383 V8 (season three); 5: 1972 and 1973 AMC Matador 401 V8 (starting in season four).

In Smokey and the Bandit most of the Mopar squad cars had what looked like Shaker Scoops if I recall.

Family Matters - Eddie Winslow's 1977 Monaco (or was it a Fury?)

Loved this show!

I used to watch "Mannix" just to see his cars--a couple of '68-'69 340 Darts, and some later Cudas--all convertibles.

I thought we were supposed to be postin pictures here. Buncha lightweights. lol

Side note:
Back in the 1970's when I was bracket racing the street legal '65 Valiant four-door 273 (4-speed w/4.56) I would sometimes cruise Main Street (Salinas, CA) on the weekends. One night, putting along in 2nd gear at about 15 MPH, I pushed in the clutch, revved the motor, and then released the clutch. Of course, I burned a little rubber.

Salinas cops in an unmarked (white) car pulled me over, admitted they were not working traffic, but said they could not pass this one by. Cited me for exhibition of speed. If you study the California Vehicle Code, one can find that traffic enforcement must be performed in marked patrol units only. I wonder if I could have claimed that as my defense?

This Adam 12 Episode 17 from Season 5 titled "The Beast" sounds entertaining enough:

Malloy and Reed are given a different police car which has 300 miles to go until retirement, and also inherit the problems—the car suddenly surges power, the glove compartment door constantly drops on Reed's knees, the water hose breaks while they are sneaking up on a prowler suspect who it turns out used to live there, a busted taillight prevents them from writing a ticket to a citizen whose car had the same problem, the distributor cap fails when trying to respond to another call, and finally, after capturing a suspect in a pursuit, the car's emergency brake fails and the unmanned car runs into a tree. Another call regarding warehouse activity (for the first time in eight years) results in the capture of a some burglary suspects. Marty Ingels and Donna Douglas guest star.
