Not sure it's accurate to say that beginning in late 1965, 273/235 4 speed A-body cars came standard with 8 3/4" rear. My 1966 Formula S (build date 9/22/66) 4 speed came with a 3:23 7 1/4" SG. The buildsheet says so and the car still retains the original rear end.
