Rear drum tight... Wrong brakes or axles?

8.25's use the exact same 10x2.5" brakes as the BBP 8 3/4's.

As for the OP, you've got mismatched parts. If the drums hit the backing plates you've got the wrong backing plates, drums, or axles somehow. Is this an A-body 8 3/4 housing? Are the axles original? What bolt pattern is on them, and have they been re-drilled? The wheel studs look like they're swimming in some of those holes in the drums. Something's wrong. What size are the wheel studs?

Bought the housing off craigslist. It's supposed to be and A body housing. It fit like a glove when I put in. I'm assuming it is the correct width. It came with springs, brakes, and axles. No third member. It was all apart and needed some tlc. The axles are big bolt pattern. I'm using the same wheels and lug nuts from my 8 1/4. The backing plates and drums measure the same. Where I'm getting a different measurement is on how far the axle sets off from the backing plate. The 8 1/4 sets 3 1/8" out and the 8 3/4 sets 2 3/4"
