I agree as well. The barbed fittings you are seeing are for the vent which I DON'T recommend connecting. Even though I mounted the vent as high as I could it still leaked like the Exxon Veldese when I completely filled the tank. The factory vent and vented cap are working fine.
 
Just talked to them an that kit they sell comes with the GPA-4 pump which is essentially a single 255 walbro pump. But for the money that's a hell of a deal $450 shipped and i could always modify a little to accept a twin 255 in tank setup.

Mine came with the GSS340 pump. I've run some really happy LS engines with that pump. I wouldn't do a twin pump set up like you're suggesting, it doesn't add up like that. Maybe they can substitute the GP-6 pump for you? Or, if you think you need it, get just the tank and the sender and splurge on an Aeromotive drop in pump. (It'll cost more than the tank.)

I had to buy the pump/tank separate. But I think I can find a way to get it with the GP-6 for 500 shipped. More good news. I got the 78mm in hand today, she's a beauty.

That barb looks like it would be a return fitting rather than a vent.

Let me go a step further...Brass Barbed fittings, Brass/zinc head units, Teflon tape, and NPT fittings of any kind have no place in a 60 PSI efi system whatsoever. I can't believe these "tanks" units are as popular as they are w/o anyone taking note that modern ethanol blend gas EATS brass, Zinc, ETC., and that NPT is NOT an acceptable form of sealing 60PSI of corrosive modern fuel. Perhaps I'm nuts for thinking that an anodized aeromotive or holley pump assembly/head unit is worth the extra $, but I've seen what modern gas does to zinc/brass over time. no thanks

They're inverted flare fittings.

If that brass barb is the return(as it appears), it wouldn't have 60psi on it. Return lines are low pressure.
 
Go with the new tank from Tanks Inc. They are a silver powder coated work of art and because the pump is in the tank it will last longer and run quieter. They should post a picture of what it looks like after a few years of ethanol blend walmart gas running through it. you can literally "polish" that yellow coating right off of it with the oils in your skin and a thumb...again pass, but to each their own.

Thank you for weighing in and providing some insightful information on the Tanks inc. fuel tank setup and your concerns with their construction. But back to the original point of the thread, LS swap of the Dart, not bashing of Tanks Inc. and all those who choose to use their products. I don't want this turning into LSX Valiant's thread where a majority of the people were just posting their distaste for his parts, or car, or direction he was going.

Unfortunately I haven't heard from the guy with the 8.8 rear end, so i may miss out on the opportunity to pick it up for $100 unless the buyer thay was coming to look at it this weekend doesn't pick it up. But ill be back to VA tomorrow to start pulling the slant next week, and I got lucky because my dad has a bad turbo 400 he is gonna let me borrow in the mean time so I can go ahead and bolt it to the LS and start working on the and not delay any further than I have to.

Found a easier way of doing the divider for the turbo once I mount it in. For $90, it saves more time/money than it would take to fabricate one on my own. and greatly simplifies the crossover from each manifold to the turbo. Plans are still to mount on passenger side as it has the most room for exhaust to run back I think.

I start the slant 6 for the last time today and put the for sale ad up with video so I can get it sold and help use the money towards the swap. At time 2049 on August 1st 2017. The length of time between now and startup is definitely undecided.

Seeing as I didn't get started till late I didn't push to get too much done tonight seeing as I don't even pickup the motor until this weekend. Charcoal canister, alternator, air cleaner, just about every electronic module in the engine bay, radiator drained, wiper spray container, coil and a few other small things removed tonight. Slow and steady on this swap while time and budget allow me to get the goodies needed.

Got the rest disconnected/un-mounted and the wiring harness pulled over to the drivers side and stripped back so I can pick out everything I need to keep and get of what I don't need to. Only the motor mounts holding it in place(and the fuel line to the pump). Going to disconnect the driveshaft from the transmission tomorrow and the transmission from the engine and see if I cant get the trans dropped out tomorrow as well. Before anyone asks, yes I am doing this in the attached garage I have for my apartment here near DC. The fact it had a decent garage was the main selling factor for me renting this place when I got stationed here.

Finally got down to NC and got the motor loaded up. Come to find out I got what's is basically a "unicorn" motor. It's an 07.5-08 transitional motor. Meaning it has the upgraded newer GEN IF bottom end and 243 heads, but doesn't have the AFM (active fuel management) garbage thay they switched to in 2008. Which the AFM lifters were known to fail frequently in performance applications, cam selection would have been much smaller and more expensive, and jist the fam delete kit runs upwards of $300+ without even having the cam with it. So I go the newer better performing bottom end without the problems of the GEN IV top end. The 243 heads are a much better performing head than previous models as well. So other than cleaning it up and powder coating some parts, plans are for a $100 set of LS7 lifters, Stage 2 turbo cam for $245 shipped and a set of PAC 1218 springs for $130 shipped and that's the extent of the mods to the internals because everything else looks extremely clean and well cared for.

Time to go load this turbo 400 and head back North tomorrow. I've essentially got 2 buyers already lined up for my /6 and 904 setup. Which will be pulled next week and hopefully sold on the 13th

I didn`t pay a whole lot of attention to this build, buy there are certainly tapered pipe threads all over the world that are holding more pressure than you`ll ever have out of anything in a car !

Just wondering...have you checked to see if the 400 will fit up in the tunnel yet? Our car is setup for a 4l80e...took a ton of cutting to get it in the car...

Don't need a whole lot in the way of internal tweaking to support boost on an LS.

Friends with this guy. Wrecking yard 5.3. Took the block apart to loosen the factory rings. Reused the "one use" rod bolts. ARP head studs. Think he said he has a BTR turbo cam. Stock 243 heads with BTR springs. Holley Tall Ram intake with a Holley Dominator EFI. Air to water intercooler. E85...

I spoke with a friend Danny who is running a turbo 400 behind a turbo LSX in his 69 valiant and he said as long as you tap up the seam at the fire wall it'll fit no issues. The turbo 400 I have right now is a core from my dad that he is letting me borrow for mock up purposes to test the theory that itll fit without cutting, and only a little massaging(if not then i'll "shift gears", sorry had to say that, and figure out my next option for transmissions. But should that be the case then maybe a turbo 350, with its smaller size but almost equal power handling capabilities would be next on the list.
Im using this as a reference right now for trans dimensions.

The 4L80E is a massive trans, a little bit longer and thicker than a 400. But I am going to try to have the 904 and slant out tonight and at least a test fit of the LS and TH400 tonight so I can get an idea of how the motor mounts are going to need to be welded together. I can also test fit the turbo manifolds and check for clearance issues. I've seen a ton of 500-600 whp stock bottom end LS motors on 14psi or less with the right sized turbo, and my 78mm should be plenty big enough. I haven't decided on e85 or not, I like to cruise a lot and don't want to stress of fuel system after letting the car sit from my many military travel trips. So most likely I will stick with gas.
 
Well after about 5 hrs in the garage solo tonight i got the slant pulled, and the 904 dropped out. Now I'm popoped. and i know my back and body are gonna feel this extravaganza tomorrow.

I also measured the stroke of my motor because it still wasn't adding up that if get a one in a million Gen IV 5.3 without the AFM/DOD STUFF installed. Turns out it's a 4.8 LS motor from that 08 Silverado. Doesnt really change my plans at all with the swap. The little 4.8 LS motors make gobs of power with a good cam and boost just like the 5.3 would have. SinceI already have the awesome 243 heads im better off than most. Time to test fit the 4.8 and th400 combo tomorrow as long as im not too sore.
