Does anyone have experience with appliance industries headers? From the sounds of them, they were popular in the 70s and 80s?

Sold tons of them back in the 70's. Great street header. We carried Hookers for the serious guys, Appliance for the street guys and weekend racers and Pro Stock for the guys looking for a bargain. Mickey Thompson had a few available too. I had a set of MT Try Y's on my Challenger.

I bought a set of them for my '70 Roadrunner back around 1976. They seemed alright to me. - No problems with them. My buddy Ray also ran a set on his '70 Charger back then.

Good to hear. Any info. On clearing power steering?

My Roadrunner was a manual steering/manual brakes/automatic. No clearance problems on that combo. Ray's Charger was a power steering car. I never heard him mention any issues with it and he'd most likely have griped about the headers if there had been any. Of course, both of our cars were B-body big blocks so I can't say if the fit was as good on an A-body small block. - By the way, Ray still owns his '70 Charger and it's still running the Appliance headers since the early 70's.

Interesting end bolt configuration. If those 3/5 runners would tuck in hard to the block and pan, those could fit a narrow A with a mini starter

Reminded me of Supershops out here in So. Cal. Place wreaked of BF Goodrich Comp T/A's as the floor was stacked with them 4 high.
These are mock ups of a design Im toying with for a 65 A the tubes go inboard of the steering gear, I dont think anyones tries this as itll probably cook the steering gear fluid unless you wrap the box or shield it. These are not bolted up as they almost touch when cinched down. still need to fab, cut and weld up the #3. These were scrapped (and scraped!) big buck equal length supercomps from another chassis.

I sold Appliance, JR, Blackjack, Hedman and others back in 1974-1977. I owned a franchise of Don Garlits speed shop. They were the economy line of headers. Then there was the unobtanium Hookers!

Awesome info. They were on a 70 duster 340 previously but no ps. I suspect they would be a tough/impossible ps fit.
hi,i have run my 340 demon for a long time period, they fit with power steering, but you dont can run the car to low because you will dent the two tubes on left side

I had the exact same headers on a 73 Challenger 340. They fit well, didn't leak and were easy to install. As others have stated, they do hang low, and you have to be careful. I ripped the drivers side half way off the car one day, right after changing my oil at the DIY pit at a local gas station. Some kind of pipe or something was sticking up in the grass, and I hit it driving away when I was finished. Luckily, a friend of mine had the same headers that he had removed, hanging in the shed after he had put a 426 hemi in a Dart Sport. Of all the ground dragger headers I've ever had, the Appliance headers were the best.
