My brand new, shiny blue, Duralast 80-902 (Autozone) 1000 pound capacity engine stand will not fit a small block Mopar. The four "L" shaped adjustable head brackets look to be about an inch too short. Had to borrow the adjustable head part from a relative who had an engine stand more "old school" so I could mount the engine. Can you believe it?

Take it back....

I took the adjustable part back to the store and showed it to the salesperson that sold it to me (and the manager was standing there too). They smiled and I guess they thought it was kind of funny. I will be going to a fabricator in the near future to have the four "L" pieces made to the correct dimensions.

Crappy Store...

Take it back with your reciept and ask for a refund. On the back of the reciept it says replacement or full refund within the warranty period. Unfortunatly some stores are worried about bottom line my store is worried about taking care of customers.

Look at the orange painted engine ...zoom in if you can. This is probably the same engine stand but sold by HF. I use the two lower holes in the block that are not threaded, 1/2 long bolt and washer and nut...bingo..

You're right 70aarcuda, we were going to try using the two unthreaded lower holes, but even at that the bolts would have to be angled somewhat and I was not about to chance snapping off the corner of my block. Not only that, the spin on oil filter was in the way. In the same shop, just a few steps away was an older engine stand with the correct spacing so we "borrowed" that adjustable section of the other stand for the time being. I just purchased new 8 grade bolts and I was trying to do things right the first time. It's pretty bad when the Chinese can't even copy something so simple, haven't they even heard of a ruler? (maybe we better check our rulers. too). I am getting fed up with not having the choice to purchase quality/correct merchandise. Is an amendment to the constitution necessary?

ah come on now...when was the last time one of your buds opened the garage door and you saw one of these engine on an engine stand....those are the type of things that stays IN THE CLOSET

I just picked up a welding cart, easy assembly, nicely made, pneumatic tires, easy to maneuver and handy accessory box across the back...all in all, excellent for the money UNTIL...you get to the tie down straps, NO FORETHOUGHT to this feature at all....but a ratchet strap works wonders.

Just picked up my two fabricated engine stand "arms" (the white ones in the foto) so I can mount the 340 on the engine stand Autozone sold me months ago. Blue ones that came with the stand were just too short (and shorter than a neighbors older vintage engine stand I used to compare parts with).

My old 340 has been mounted on the HF stand in the above picture with grade 8 bolts for over a year with no problems.

i got 6 of the HF engine stands in use, between complete engines to short blocks

HF "heavy" is a decent stand.
